Oh thank you very much -- talk a little technology -- Microsoft.

I'm betting on the -- surface pro tablet or laptop what do you wanna caught hitting the store shelves on Saturday and the important thing today is that Waltz review of that.

Is in Walt Mossberg is here in this week's -- There's an -- from the Wall Street Journal personal technology columnist there while I gave you a huge shot out earlier -- there was really painful 'cause I yell but necessary yelling my name or random way flow equipment.

Most people get -- also embassy here has always.

I walk about this surface pro how to -- you don't like it as much as the original surface is still on the market for Microsoft.

Well that's right taken thanks for -- thanks for the shout out.

Secondly maybe we should -- -- monopoly pieces up a little upset about that down but the certain the surfers probe.

You know they brought up the surface in October it it was at a tablet.

With a little bit extra in the little bit actual was that they built in.

Word excel and PowerPoint -- -- couldn't run.

A regular windows apps.

Can excuse me this surface pro.

Runs up full windows at eight and can run you all -- familiar.

Surface apps but the problem is they're trying to be both a tablet in the laptop -- in my opinion they don't do a great job of either one.

And I let me just give an example on the tablet side if you compared it to and I've had or Samsung galaxy tablet or something first of all.

The minimum price you can pay is 899.

Dollars for this thing.

It weighs two pounds which is about 40% more than an iPad.

If you wanna use that it as a laptop you've got to get an add on keyboard that adds another 130.

Dollars.

The battery life in my test was just under four hours compared -- ten hours for the iPad.

It's just and on the base model which has 64 gigabytes of memory only thirty gigabytes that is free for you to use the restaurant is taken up by windows.

I'm curious about that -- whole concept Bob combining.

But didn't just combining two pieces of technology called this a -- in your -- I actually like that term the the idea being able to do that you know.

We used to have separate devices for a lot of different things that we all like having music.

I'm an MP3 player -- we like the -- we combine that that did work and then in some cases it doesn't work because you can't as you say.

Do either one of these things well will anybody be able to do that combined just about everything we like to have with us into one device or should they not even try and your -- What you know you have some.

Some it's a great question comedy of some.

Aspects of the things that you did on a laptop.

Have already moved over to tablets email as a good exit you know Twitter FaceBook all those things tablet.

Do those things fine.

What they don't do is heavy productivity apps you can on on an iPad or an android tablet you can certainly.

-- modify.

Or review.

A spreadsheet you can even technically create one but it's not a great environment for that.

And I think that.

All of the flips and twists and he he you know worked as both the -- -- -- laptop because windows eight.

Combines a kind of tablet interface in the regular windows.

Computer interface PC interface that you've been used to for many years so.

I have not seen one that I think really does the job well I don't think this one does.

And I don't think the ones that are laptop that kind of flip around to be it tablet you -- there.

Don't say but don't executives read your column -- and don't they know that if they put out -- -- with lousy battery life.

It weighs what 40% more than the heaviest.

That the heaviest iPad that is extremely costly with a keyboard is gonna be a thousand dollars or more.

Don't they know if that's not gonna work particularly in your August down.

They might they might know that I actually.

Admire a lot of the people at Microsoft.

Who are behind some of these innovations -- at frankly I think it's good.

Byword of my accept shareholder -- -- you know as you know I don't have shares in any these companies.

I would want them to be trying to push the boundaries and do these things but.

I think.

If you look at some of the other reviews they all pretty much are similar to my conclusions.

So.

This particular product.

Will appeal to some people -- are people going out.

Who will go out Saturday and buy it when it comes out.

Because they want that everything in one piece and -- willing to put up with these compromises but it's not it does not pass my test for.

For being either a great tablet or great -- and that's an important test Walt thank you as always and we'll see you soon I'll give you all -- Here it is again I'm hoping to avoid that but -- won't get -- -- hostility and disdain -- but here she's.
