-- -- So -- this latest string of cyber attacks -- we're just talking about prompting the Pentagon to add thousands of new employees to -- US cyber command but experts are concerned.

That there just aren't enough qualified people to fight our cyber war one of them has our.

Hollering he's founder and director of research for the sands institute which is -- cyber security training school.

Allan thanks so much for coming on the show you know the government says that they want to hire up to 4000 new workers.

Are are they available at the level they need are those people out there.

There are a lot of people who call themselves cyber security workers but only a few thousand in the whole country that have.

The kind of advanced skills you need to fight off these Chinese attacks and what's happening is the.

Government contractors are stealing them from the government and then contractors -- stealing from each other banks are stealing them from the contractors there just aren't enough in the country.

So it sounds like coming -- couple problems here one is I imagine -- JPMorgan or Goldman Sachs is stealing someone for the government from the government they're able to pay them hundreds of thousands of dollars -- -- -- If you go to work for the government it's gotta be you know I was looking -- -- -- -- forty or 50000 dollar job.

So it seems like how what the government ever get a single employee if they if the wage disparities that great.

The government actually has something up for the banks don't happen that is that it's legal to do things when your government -- -- that you can't do anywhere else.

And the mission the mission of the Defense Department the mission NSA the mission of the FBI those are real nations that people are proud to serve so as long as -- paid enough.

They'll stay if the mission is good and if they get good management figure actually can keep an enormous number of people in the government if the management -- -- in the nation is good.

So it's not -- -- I'm not ideal job data is what you're saying where financial networks that we focus on the dollar is first and given your just sat I -- you -- -- people -- train them every day are there enough people to fill the government's roles.

But there are for the bigger fact here that your money -- if if there about four or five years in their career and they're trying to buy a house and they don't feel like they have any money.

Enough money in -- government -- think they can be pulled out but so you you're right but but they've finances are forty to 50000 dollars more in that middle courier slot.

Outside the government finance that the government in the long term our government careers pretty good current cyber security.

And -- your question about not enough people right yeah well it sound like there are plenty of these jobs all around the country we have people who.

Are -- need to have jobs how do you train for something like that's.

You you have a different kind of training program in the training programs that you've been doing a lot of the programs for cyber people are academic programs are people go to class and they.

They have people talk to them about cyber security.

Cyber security is more like piloting a plane.

You can get a little bit good added that you take thousands of hours of sick time on an airplane to be a great fighter pilot security people are exactly the same way.

With a few hours you can talk about it.

With a few hundred hours you can do it it at a at a pedestrian level.

But the people we need have a thousand hours or more of training and simulators.

Time in simulators just like pilots.

-- -- people funneling into that industry that -- -- beginning to get that experience are they out there or did they not know these jobs exist I mean.

Where is the hold back.

The pullback is that there haven't been good simulators and -- -- been hasn't been a lot of good online and I'm sorry hands on training for a long time.

Just the last three or four years the air force has pioneered.

In developing simulators and training programs that have a lot of hands on work and now.

So we -- and others are taking that the air force learning and spreading it out to the banks can get the same people about hospitals can get the same people arrest the government can get those people so interesting on how my thanks for coming on.

You --
