To -- January 30 is the first day you can begin.
Processing your individual tax returns it is two weeks later than usual thanks of course to congress battling it out over the fiscal -- deal.
Now let's Kathy Pickering executive director of the HR block tax institutes and -- welcome.
Thank you -- so if you file your tax return today when should you expect to refund.
So if you file your tax return to.
And you're able to go out to that website or you can use our mobile labs to be able to get a more personalized.
Update.
Of when you can expect your individual refund to arrive so.
A sweating one day expectation for refund again if you filed -- -- doesn't sound all that long it's well before the April 15 deadline is well within a month's range so.
Does that affect a lot of people -- solicit.
Well because of the two week delay in the start of the filing season and there are many Americans who typically.
File in January who would expect to get -- refund.
And so by starting two weeks later it means that now they're going to be waiting that much longer to get their refunds are few are conscientious hardship.
I don't -- to be a little sarcastic here but are people don't more people -- and to push it shifted the last minute and file -- even file a plight for an extension.
Hasn't all net out well.
Yet it depends on your individual tax situation if you're expecting a big refund.
Then you're gonna file as early as possible and get that money as quick as possible at that point.
All right so there are a couple of forms and to -- the -- will not update until February or march and those include some of the very popular family.
Friendly education related tax breaks what -- -- all about and what kind of delay in -- possibly with those people be looking that's looking out.
-- just to be very clear.
There are -- set -- -- at the IRS had said will be blazed they'll be ready in late February early march.
But 98%.
Of American tax payers don't have to you wait for those forms because they don't apply to them.
Now just the other day the IRS told us.
That they need a little bit more time to finish program the American opportunity tax credit we know that severe -- popular form.
Last year about twelve million Americans.
Took that credit for about 27 billion dollars worth of tax credits.
However that one won't be quite so delayed don't expect to have that ready mid February so not too much of the delay -- -- -- good info.
Is the IRS changing the way or the order goes through tax returns.
If they are if the IRS is changing the way -- the order of processing their tax returns that's not something.
That they have publicly shared with us.
What we do know is that in the -- starting on January 26.
We had begun some early season testing with them -- live returns that we had stocked up and ready this admit.
Everyone in the industry does this.
And so now those returns that we were able to submit early through testing.
We expect we'll start getting their refunds issued a little bit sooner so there's some good news coming for people who -- had their returns prepared.
And ready to go.
Kathy Pickering thank you so much of H&R block can't believe it's tax season I really -- -- so diligent about filing on time -- open.
Clearly different and think I hate it.
