-- -- joining us sunset CEO advisor.
I think your talent has basically if you wanna succeed in the -- -- yeah.
You know that's exactly right that's exactly right and and I -- sort of discovered this when I was in.
An exercise class and you are acting heavy -- right I was called up after costs -- not failing -- first time I've been called -- up costs for not filling.
You know -- said -- you're you're not you're not doing anything here and what you have to actually do his work out until you can't possibly do one more.
Right until you fail.
And that's the only way to grow your muscles -- little little looking sort of little of looking at this inspired it is hard -- -- and that's exactly right yeah it's true.
And it's it's actually true -- Our minds that Carol -- has done some research on mind sets she wrote the book might have took -- -- professor.
And it's it's it would it appears that we have two different kinds of -- one is a growth mindset.
The other is a fixed mindset and if you have a fixed to mind that you believe that your IQ -- -- that you can't.
Get any smarter than you already are in which case.
Failing suggest -- you -- limitation the you don't wanna face because that means that your less capable than yours that you stay away from failures.
If you have a growth mindset.
You believe that you -- IQ your intelligence grows with work -- -- -- you wanna keep pushing the envelope and keep trying things and feeling -- failure represents.
A new horizon that you can go into.
Dividend -- so freight but that's an interest -- think so why we so afraid to fell because.
The emotions that come along with failure are painful because to some degree we have this fixed mindset.
You have some degree of this -- might that we say if I fail it means they can't do something.
And if I can't to do something that I would feel less good about myself.
And so and and other people will look in the laugh and other and -- William will mean you know may be ultimately biologically evolutionary allies.
Maybe you know I won't get the right partner.
If I you know if I if I fail at something because I won't be seen as you know as capable and strong and and and a good -- The reality though is -- those failures lead us to become those things that we want to eventually become if you're able to take it and it doesn't knock you down but you say well.
-- -- from.
What I wasn't able to do I've learned how to do it differently now maybe I'm gonna try something different I'm gonna try harder and to work out in the different way so that I can eventually do it.
Then you grow -- the failure leads to a growth in capability -- filling him in your muscle will grow to increasing the size.
It makes cents it's also good way to broaden your horizons a little bit what business leaders or.
Potential are expiring business leaders learn from them.
-- that's a great question because what you find with the business leaders who have a fixed mindset right who -- afraid of failure for that reason.
Is they surround themselves -- people who yes them.
They they don't want anybody to contradict them because it makes them feel bad.
They don't wanna push the envelope and take risks.
That might not worker might not play out because then it'll show that they're not capable leaders -- -- -- they limit their growth from the growth for the company.
What what leaders need to do is to take Smart risks and they need to fail and they need to encourage failure.
-- one of the things that talk about the CEOs you know it's it's a strange thing but.
How are you dealing with failure in your team and are you encouraging and enough perhaps you wouldn't think like what we want to do is encourage failure.
But in fact that's precisely what we wanna do we had some safety net so that it doesn't destroy the company we're not looking for failures where you make this crazy trade and you blow up the credit.
-- we're looking for failures that post your capability in such a way.
That that you're able to grow and and be more successful -- we're looking for leaders.
Who were able to have people who contradict them so that they can learn more.
CEOs are people who don't -- their competitive they're Smart and -- that -- that their whole life so.
To take on the concept of this is really hard -- this is really out there we might.
Not be a success that's kinda let that messes with them a little -- right.
It's very scary and also you know in general in terms of the way we perform.
General average performance isn't punished.
A problem or risk is punished I mean there's this great story I remember.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And gave his resignation.
And and the CEO.
Looked at the resignation and said.
Are you kidding I just put you through a 100000 dollar training program -- think I'm gonna let you go now Toby a total waste of money.
Right and and that's sort of the way we want to look at failure.
