The economy the number one issue for so many voters is only mentioned.
Three times with more on this Todd buckles former White House economic advisor to George president George H.
W.
Bush.
Todd I want -- back to the show was this frustrating -- and.
Well who cares about me Jerry -- I care more about that.
-- economic analysis here yeah well I care more about and the president should care more about the millions Americans.
Who can't find work.
You know it's funny.
A week or so ago the New York Times that the publication were aghast at -- -- That Ben Affleck was -- by the Academy Awards not being nominated it.
A best director well I think the job market and the economy would -- yesterday.
By President Obama.
But you know if you don't think it's almost -- -- the list of things he's interested and are so divorced from the David -- needs of most Americans it's almost astonishing.
Well that trend that we've had a seven point 8% unemployment rate.
And of course if you include discouraged workers -- well into the teens.
This is not a strong economic recovery at all that it is a palatial economic recovery.
President talk so much about global warming I wish you talk about the glacial recovery.
Up but let's face it by this time jury we know the economy.
It's not really his field you know he's -- terrific basketball he's probably got some for now.
We won't really know this it's not one that you -- I would put at the top of our analysts probably like.
Developing green energy and the public die mining well let me ask you this let me ask you this though he didn't say that the economic recovery has been -- Do you agree with that -- -- the -- recession has actually been over for well over two years it's in the past it's in the rearview mirror but it sure doesn't feel like that even now.
Well that's right and in fact GDP did turn positive.
In July of 2009.
So it's been more than a couple of -- -- and yet it doesn't feel good because the jobs are not being created.
Look is the economy.
Getting better yes but it up.
Painful case -- -- filled burned for oil drilling in natural gas prices and fracking and all the things that this president despises.
The economy would be significantly weaker so to the extent the economy's gotten better it's not them because of the president's policies it's been despite the president's policy.
Well you know I'm starting to wonder whether the Democrats are thinking that maybe they'll introduce more stimulus.
Did we worry got Chuck Schumer the senator from New York saying hey we're gonna have higher taxes we're gonna come for even more taxes.
-- think gonna try failed stimulus strict again -- dollar in every pot.
Well I I do think so because that's how they buy votes politicians.
Our political entrepreneur lowers their supplying their customers what do they supply them with.
Free stuff and that stimulus and -- stimulus and this White House in this congress.
That's like handing your car keys to Lindsay Lohan and -- the parallel park your vehicles.
It just doesn't turn out so well so I hope we don't go down that road but that Democrats have the power they've got enough votes.
And look if we're upset -- let's blame the American people the president got 51% of the vote.
He's now acting as if he got sixty or 70% of the vote but had -- his prerogative cap to rule is if he has a strong majority.
And that's what he's doing and frankly I can't blame him up we're taking that -- I don't think it's good policy.
But this is what the American people voted.
Well now you know people -- -- optical -- there are you know it's not just about the White House it's not just about the administration.
It's also about congress its also about the -- For an imperial presidency.
And I hope cooler heads prevail on some of these topics but it's always great to have each on the show Todd thanks for coming on appreciate your time -- to -- -- Good to be really Gerri thanks for having me --
