Monica let's start with first.
Is Ed Henry reported.
President aggressively.
Progressive -- if that's the -- reviews.
Allies strong leftist tone throughout.
Yes and no big surprise if anybody were still under the illusion somehow that this president what -- secret moderates.
Or wanted to reach across the -- work with the Republican Party concerned about legacy.
That is building bridges to the opposition they should have been dis abused of that notion as of this speech this was a very hard left speech.
Again no mystery about who Barack Obama is what he believes what he has done with the nation over the last four years and what he intends to do -- for the next four.
Your sector.
Surely not a -- you cannot be surprised by who Barack Obama is.
He has doubled down.
On the EU didn't build this thing in that is we all built this collectively we are great they're we're not taking anything we are being -- to excel.
I think this is what his face wanted to hear this is what.
The people who elected him wanted to hear.
He's tired of trying to make nice nice with the congress.
He wanted to say what he believes are you are you segment help with the Republicans who took was and I'm pretty have a hell -- about -- the country that didn't vote for.
And this is this is his vision of the country I think he wants to be the liberal answer to -- again.
-- well if he's tired of.
Trying to work with congress I would say he didn't have much energy to start with them because he didn't try very hard.
And that this does strike me -- is as a commitment to wireless event today I mean.
If there was -- there was.
India of course these are somewhat somber.
Sort of transfer of power you know in -- But in reality I thought that there was a scolding tone to a lot of this speech -- America has failed America hasn't lived up to these ideals that's the undercurrent that.
I find that I find that disheartening because I think this is the greatest country -- For him -- sort of lecture us that we're not good enough.
I find that this did not demoralizing.
-- if it.
-- your comment about joy.
-- not much of it was evident to me either.
And there were pictures countless pictures of the president chewing gum in the review stand.
That I impaired you know maybe I'm being a bit of preying on the sort of thing.
But it was it will certainly better than him smoking.
Probably right -- -- -- -- -- everybody wanted to get -- look we've really.
It's startling to see it let me just go through some of the rhetoric with -- and and and get the audience's reaction as well I mean.
Here -- some of those quotes of like to go to from the president today all the troops may be self evident.
They have never been self executing.
I don't know what the man is paying -- speech writers.
The -- he he needs a refund or at least a portion of the salaries yeah it makes it makes truth sounds the suicidal.
I mean what what in the world is that.
And then he he turns to into the third inaugural Lincoln in draws from a couple of lines says.
Through blood drawn by lash and blood drawn by sword.
We've learned that no union.
Founded on the principles of liberty and equality could survive half slave and half free.
We made ourselves a new and bound to move forward together.
I don't -- -- I -- -- that because here's a man he says he is.
And act like a fan.
Of Abraham morning.
And he doesn't give.
Our our president.
Abraham Lincoln the credit for having saved the union.
You know people have to he doesn't acknowledge that the slaves -- billion about in this country and 1868.
There was not an uprise.
The north liberated.
Freed those slaves and president Lincoln led the way.
And in in somewhere surely there's got to be an impulse to be right with history.
Remember the heat comes out of this very far left ideology that police that America is the root of all evil not just at home but -- -- It is a very I think pathological.
Ideology and that's -- tendency -- chewing with him.
Remember previous presidents work their entire lives to get to the pinnacle of power in this nation to the White House once they got there they relish the job.
He loved the constitution they left what America represented you don't get that -- -- president.
We don't get that sense -- we see great.
Reference.
He spoke almost me Judy is is a man who sees himself apart rather than the beneficiary.
Or the -- To the American experience.
To American values and all the sacrifices -- before.
An acknowledgment that -- the 360000.
Union soldiers.
Died.
To free the slaves.
That if the very least whatever he harbors in the way of some historical resist.
Should at least -- have by the nobility of the unique nobility of long history of which are people turned.
To their own citizens and fought them to the death at great sacrifice to -- slaves to make good a terrible wrong.
Do not see that in this.
Don't know why I see it differently -- -- the first black American president I mean this I think he has to talk about back because it's so obvious just.
Standing in front of -- what he -- percent it's not gonna -- -- it it's it's obvious to all Abbas.
It's about what is obvious to him Judy -- what is obvious him and we're gonna.
