Hello everybody I'm Gerri Willis does president Obama's push for stricter gun control laws have any chance at all in congress.
Or.
Is it all for -- out.
It's a big question we're asking tonight in a conference today vice president Joseph Biden urging the nation's mayors to back president Obama's plan.
While his campaign is trying to get supporters to sign petitions.
But my first guest tonight says the biggest priority of our congress shouldn't be to pass new laws on -- but instead enforce the ones we already -- Michael Reagan is the elder son of president Ronald Reagan and host of the nationally syndicated talk radio show the Michael Reagan show Michael come back so it's good to have you with that isn't.
I is this all for show is the president know trying to a -- -- into a false sense of security.
That's exactly what he is doing -- all -- into thinking is we're really doing something what we're doing what is save lives.
And the reality -- -- -- there's not one bill before congress not one bill here in California or any place else.
The what is save one life if anyone factor in Connecticut anyone here at the -- theater anyone in fact in Arizona.
-- day would not have saved any of the lives.
And so what you have the press United States after you know for shell putting the kids behind to bring family members in front of them.
And and making people believe he's doing something -- it would have saved a life but it's unfortunate would have happened.
Wouldn't have happened and that's because at the end of -- day out crooks get get guns no matter what right I mean the problem isn't keeping guns at the end of the -- that the go ahead.
-- to understand this man tried to buy -- gun twice the gun -- worked incredibly violent gun twice she was turned down when all.
Stole its mother's gun shot and killed his mother and what to the school -- remember the day my father -- shot.
Jerry and and I remember going to Michael looting was my Secret Service agent charged -- detail that day and I think Michael how in the hell can you allow my -- get -- we'll all these Secret Service people around -- Michael we trade 24/7 to protect your father and you and others.
One thing will never be able to train enough for and that is the crazies.
The crazies are the ones we always worry bank and that's what we have whether to work Colorado.
Whether it's back that this -- -- look or whether it's an Arizona we have the crazies.
While it it's a mental health issue that's for darn sure you know you wrote a column on this very topic and he talked about the Sidwell school.
And that's where the presence daughters ago and -- they of course have their own Social Security detail.
But you think the Sidwell where a lot of really wealthy DC folks send their kids there's a lot of security there.
David Gregory's kids go there Bloomberg kids go there there's a whole lot of kids to go there if there was no president -- -- -- to Sidwell Friends School.
There would still be eleven armed guards at Sidwell Friends School.
I think -- -- at a press coverage yesterday with those kids behind it said why do you feel so safe why because we have eleven -- Now the school or my sister and my sister my daughter -- she's a kindergarten teacher 49 years of age by the way.
Five foot two she's so in relation to what happened backers say look as my -- at what.
My daughter's of mom dad.
How would have done the same thing those teachers did for my great.
But that school didn't go to congress they didn't go to.
The as the mayor of they didn't go to -- the assembly didn't go to City Council.
Don't they did that when -- hired an armed guard.
For the school they didn't need government to tell them what to do to protect the kids that went out and did it why do people think they need Washington to protect their own children beyond well.
And sort of a double standard going on there I think -- you know.
You talk about all the famous people who go to Sidwell at some of those -- folks work in the media and some of them are saying that would got to get rid of these guns.
Their kids are -- yes but what about --
