Is joining us now is Kirsten Powers from the Daily -- and -- Roth radio show I was so we adjusted.
I think the president will use an executive order to ram through restrictions on assault weapons high capacity magazines and universal background checks I think he'll do it and I think you'll win on this one.
What -- you.
While that certainly have talked about gearing up but I it remains to be seen I'm not gonna be so certain that that's that's what he's gonna do.
I do want to comment on news that the things that the NRA has been saying.
I'm not sure what they expect the vice president to talk to them about their the NR -- so it seems like -- he would speak to them about guns that doesn't mean that he's not looking at other.
Aspects of this as you mention is meeting with the video game.
Industry's -- meaning -- Hollywood people.
You know addition hopefully will be a mental health component to this but but -- all right come -- -- say all he did was focus on guns well I mean Miami with the National Rifle Association I think probably what you're gonna talk about.
Yep yeah -- got is that it's that is.
That is a -- what I'm not taking any sides on the one Carol I'm saying that public opinion is running heavily against the and our right within their right or wrong is another story about public opinion bonds against him.
That's why I think the president will win on this one what -- -- it.
I think it depends which part of the public there is obviously a bifurcation.
Going on right now in the court of public opinion.
People who are very pro the Second Amendment and take -- shall not be infringed part of the bill of rights very seriously.
And the people who are acting very emotionally towards these horrible tragedies.
And saying let's find a solution and focusing very much.
On the -- it as much as the madness.
So I do think that there is a very good chance here Stuart.
That President Obama will use this as an opportunity to politicize a solution however.
I do not believe that that's solution will actually solve the problem and we handed to them and that's my concern for that.
OK I got to move on Kazaa and is a great debate to have and is very poignant at this moment obviously.
But I want to bring up the subject of a Treasury Secretary designate.
Nominee that would be a Jack -- Lot of -- now a lot of applause of the announcement yesterday most likely gets confirmed that's an opinion.
I say let's not what you -- on this one I say it will make absolutely no difference to president Obama's economic policy which is tax the rich.
Do not cut spending and ignore the debt first you -- Yeah I think that that's right I mean obviously Jack -- who has been -- President Obama was.
Right hand man and one of the reasons put out for his nomination and that he understands the mechanics of budgets however if we look back at the budgets over the past whether -- four years decade or even further there hasn't been a balanced balanced budget.
So whether he understands the mechanics or not it's still not solving our problems as -- Treasury Secretary is sitting over the IRS and the national debt and -- we get some meaningful change here.
Which I do not anticipate.
I feel like this nominations not gonna make a whole lot of different.
-- -- -- account I'm very that you agreement and I'm sure of -- will agree -- -- there will be no just no way that we no change policy tax the rich some mall.
Forget about spending cuts and ignore the debt you know I'm right constant -- You're probably right I hope you're wrong I hope you're wrong I is I don't want that to be what ends up happening and the truth is yet.
That bill halter because and the Bob really apologize for -- like this you know I'm wrong.
But yeah do you really think that Nancy Pelosi and the present -- gonna back off.
On that threat to tax the rich even more and the outlook -- -- thinking of social security and Medicare and Medicaid.
-- -- -- write about the taxes going up I guess I just -- hopeful that your wrong about the fact that he's not gonna address.
You know debt and spending and and I think I'm just gonna hold out hope that they are gonna you know actually do something on that in terms of whether Jack -- changes anything you're right the president makes the policy.
-- sometimes you can't have a Treasury Secretary that can have a -- -- ones like.
You know if -- about Robert Rubin kind of person who really had a heavy compliance on Bill Clinton.
And and got him to see how important.
Reducing the deficit was -- but but Obama seems -- people who are just gonna acts acute not.
Not actually.
Make policy okay.
It drew -- connected -- -- that I -- I've got to.
