Juan Williams now the Fox News political analysts is that joining us in studio to talk a little bit more about all of this and job.

She -- the White House a talkative to Brett -- about it earlier that food Washington Post had.

The article and maybe other people -- to that maybe they're considering at least putting some funding in.

Four police officers and schools which I -- maybe trying to get Republican support but was a little bit surprising to -- to -- that would that would be included on the democratic side.

You know -- -- you know for all the talk about how partisan -- -- I think that the White House has been in attacking the gun issue I think that they are looking for a deal they wanna get something done right I think that is the key point for this Biden proposal to President Obama.

That they would be able to say down the road we did not let the Connecticut shooting go unnoticed and do nothing.

And one of the critical points about the polling on this Connell.

Is that when you look back in the ninety's there was a much higher percentage of Americans who thought we could do something about gun violence in the country.

That number has progressively gone down and when you go inside the numbers the reason is people don't think that there's anything ever going to be done.

About limiting easy access to firearms in this country.

Will would be a multi pronged approach where like they attack mental illness they do something about mental illness.

They make it harder to get a gun may be and and you do something about the safety -- our -- do you think it will include kind of a mix of those things are absolutely.

You know again.

This is you know -- -- contrary to the way that is being postured and and pictured by the NRA which obviously wants to stop anything at all.

Is that they are looking for.

Ideas that even NRA members have subscribed to so that includes may not like now how well mental health -- big item right now on the on the right.

Because I think they don't want to look at some of these other steps but I'm talking about steps -- that as I said.

Polls indicate NRA -- support payments that's six such as clothing some of the loopholes at -- having but I'm having training before you use a firearm.

And making sure that people who have mental illness is hot and -- for example even people who've been involved in.

I spousal abuse cases right right now I have the right right that'll happen I was -- say that the mental health -- no health records are factored into the background -- process that put that put him and part of that is sharing apparently high right now there's not -- sharing that the prime example there is the Virginia Tech shooting -- the shooter had been ruled by a -- -- mentally competent but that information had not been shared with the folks who then gave him it doesn't -- tricky because you're talking about people's medical privacy and in terms of yeah.

But even in the case of Adam -- that there's pressure and questions about what should we know who's in your home -- who has access to this gun even if they're not the person's being given the gun permit.

You'll see some trade deficit import numbers export numbers crossing at the bottom of the screen here in the next couple seconds is for talking about this one of the things that strikes -- are talking about it as we've gone on your for a few minutes.

We haven't mentioned the possibility of -- reinstatement of the assault weapons.

The -- that doesn't seem like it's gonna happen now well.

In fact the New York Times has a piece this morning talking about how -- Obama administration thinks that is very difficult to get past in this congress almost impossible in this house.

And the numbers they -- our.

Not greatly supported the idea that -- gonna make a whole lot different so it's not gonna make a whole lot of difference right despite the fact that lands -- use this weapon that the guy in Aurora Colorado use and others.

If it's not gonna make a lot of difference and you're gonna have a hard time getting it asks why why -- get the guns back that are out there already -- that.

No because when you look at how most shootings are gonna -- with handguns not with assault weapons so if it's not gonna stop a lot of the shootings in the sky -- up.

You know the guy Connecticut had a good solved -- what rifle.

So but but the question is if it's not the most of the shootings in -- city like Chicago all right I think they have the highest murder rate at the moment.

Now almost all with handguns and so if it if that's not gonna be the big.

Difference maker why invest the political capital what they wanna do is invest local capital where that you get something for and then be able to say we got something done in terms of the focus with.

Vice President Biden being with do you videogame makers today what how how do you.

And Democrats and Republicans you want to balance freedom of expression.

Verses.

You know and how do you balance freedom of expression vs the rights -- own a gun in this country again.

My Clinton my issue really does somebody's freedom is going to be.

We're lose some freedoms are we not the first and the second -- -- and -- and like is unless we change should talk a video games video game.

Guns and their right censorship right.

Wow so.

I really disagree with the to look at.

People I.

Take -- -- that's -- I don't but I mean the way you posed the question suggested someone is gonna lose their IPO like you know what I don't have rights living in a tough neighborhood in DC.

If I'm constantly living in fear of my personal safety I think I have a right to walk down the street without gang -- -- shoot and and I think the easy access to guns has now even units you know idyllic town in Connecticut caused the debt that these -- -- we had a right to live in my appear crime that.

-- be -- if you're.

Go -- -- talk about guns and also having this discussion about video games and where you can connect the dots to the -- -- -- don't know sort of you're saying I don't think that they can -- -- anybody's first amendment rights and in fact the Supreme Court recently ruled that the video -- makers have that right so all the White House can do in that situation -- is appeal to social responsibility.

And bring the weight of public opinion to -- that this is too violent culture of the fallen into the White House first that you know well they're talking about what works.

Conservatives think this culture is too violent at the moment they would be all -- for.

Interest in mind just what is a big topics and vice president continues today one always great nice visiting you guys good to -- by the way I love your tan thank you very much.

Yeah.

They're -- and house mad at wine is about because it didn't.

The Affordable Care Act obamacare the first tax -- one of course taxes with attack excise tax on tanning service you're because I think you're -- -- with cigarette.

Yeah I think ebitda connection between cancer and -- I loved it wouldn't send us their song.

Gotta go like wander up a little longer I don't Barney should be fine we -- -- great you're thinking -- -- -- from a black.

Thanks -- isn't it why didn't want him going home.

I'm Tibetan -- that's all right Orlando have -- -- -- in related news the.
