US officials are reporting the finger at a -- and fort recent series of cyber attacks on our online banking website.

Adam Shapiro in the newsroom with more on that -- today at.

The -- this is an ongoing story that the Fox Business web -- first broke back in the fall these cyber attacks against US financial institutions just about all the banks in the United States being targeted originally it was a group.

That's what's been going on in those hijacked servers have been doing these denial of service attacks against US banks.

Back in December we had this story right here on fox business and the banks denied they were under attack.

But then the OCC the office of the comptroller of the concerns they.

Currency came out and said the banks need to fess up that they are under attack so now you've got the New York Times.

With a story about who's responsible and they're quoting a man by the name of James Lewis former state.

And Commerce Department employee who's now a security expert senators -- -- under international studies he says it's Iran.

I called -- her Berger who is we of the -- aware he is their vice.

Vice president security solutions he's been on Fox Business before on these issues and here's what he told me he said.

He's a little anxious that we ascribe all blame to one state sponsored cyber attack event.

He says that it's quite possible that.

He could be Iran along with another government or state sponsored entity that wants to do harm to US banks -- could be Iran with -- -- he said.

Nefarious factors perhaps terrorist or organizations that want to cause problem the reason this has that hand print of a state sponsored attack.

Is -- actually trying to steal money.

It is trying to bring the system's down and create chaos for you -- me the customers of the banks.
