The world's biggest annual consumer technology trade show -- -- CES you've heard us right.
Kicking off today in Vegas herewith a look at some of the year's most wacky gadgets is Paul Reynolds.
He's in electronics editor for consumer reports hey Paul good to CEO he's got some pretty silly for nothing there.
I wanna hear all about the Smart pork that's going didn't turn means some kind of -- person I does that work can you show me.
Well -- this is a 99 dollar -- And what it does it's called the happy -- and what it does is it actually keeps track of how quickly you -- And you can program it's two.
Tell you if you're eating more quickly then you should.
To lose weight for example -- you have acid reflux and it'll actually program you to -- more slowly which apparently is shown to to help people reduce weight.
So you actually -- this up to your computer programs that it vibrates when -- reading more quickly than you should.
That's -- one of those things that sounds good in theory but in reality.
I don't that's gonna stop me from -- my friend.
Well you know I guess anything's worth -- try and I guess they figure for 99 dollars.
The single BOK -- apparently -- -- plastic fork gap as temporary and it's even if fairly even -- even dishwasher safe place.
Well that's I guess that's that what you would call a selling point -- -- What's your wireless charging and Bluetooth -- speaker now that sounds like you know another century invention here what's going on.
Well here's the thing.
We're seeing more wireless charging here at at CS where you don't have to hook up you're.
Your phone in order to do that -- there's more more phones that you can put on to pads.
That -- charge them without a court what this one does this combine that a court on top with the ability also stream music.
From the following.
-- -- -- box so while you're charging your phone you can also listen to music -- so that's the idea about providing two things in one.
And it's kind of a -- combination.
That's that's amazing and I'm sure I would have no idea how to set that thing up.
You've got what you call emissions by a water and dirt resistance Smartphone -- why don't need a water and -- resistance Smartphone.
First.
Well you near water resistant.
Phone because you know when I was at some point this kind of thing might happen.
You might end up dropping your phone in the toilet dropping -- home wherever people worry a lot about that.
And the great thing about this phone and have one or two others that have been unveiled here at CS's it's still works fine you put it in the water it's going to be -- for up to half an hour.
Men and what's good about this is.
Previously you could get these kind of phones that we're we're whether water resistance but they weren't great -- these ones as a couple of really good ones is the Sony Xperia -- the which is Sony's new flagship Smartphone.
This is certainly you know has very good -- that has every sign of being a very good found but it also has the water resistance you don't have to have a big -- Heavy phone anymore to have this kind of protection people really do worry about their Smartphones they worry a lot about losing -- -- readers tell us a lot about that.
Well I yeah that would be bad New York City where everything seems to be very.
How much that self driving -- tell us about that.
The self driving Lexus again it's it's it's it's a car that will.
Use.
Toyota launched this research vehicle which is a self driving cars that prides itself around now if you have to drive -- all -- You deal.
Well yes but it's -- research vehicle first of all second all.
Just -- to it to allay the idea that we're all gonna get driven around by our cars anytime soon.
This this -- -- research car.
And Toyota went out of its way to say don't expect to launch a driver -- -- but what they will do is use this technology which uses radar to GPS and cameras and so on.
They'll use that.
To make cars more safe in the future they'll start adding some of these things on so for example.
Your Toyota or Lexus of the future might be able to tell you if -- cars coming up really fast senior blind spot if you pulled into what it might actually automatically.
Keep the car in its lane so unfortunately we're not gonna be chauffeured around by our cars anytime soon.
But it is interesting that a major manufacturer.
Has got behind us and protect not -- heard about for awhile.
You know -- and it could change cars in the future.
Well -- I can barely turn my laptop on so I'm certainly not -- -- computer to run my card can tell you that right now thanks for coming on tonight great stuff really appreciate your help.
At a great time there in Vegas okay thank you -- I well thanks.
