Maybe into the abyss do you remember about -- that you don't forget David McArthur and pat -- -- -- -- salt -- the -- real business real folks who know the real score well better than anyone -- -- certainly -- -- -- I love having -- -- just to monitor things in this economy and to keep things real in this country because rather than the politicians making the rules and the laws.
If you think about it these are the guys who have to deal with the consequences of those rules and laws -- it's a brand new year with lots of brand new rules and laws and taxes.
And let's just say these small biz folks had some very big big worries.
-- do you person and and I do that because you will always be emblazoned in my memory.
As a woman who argue would no less than the president knighted states.
To his face risking the wrath of these very severe looking Secret Service agents toting machine guns are that's -- story.
It's a Friday night I did so again the risk of embarrassing you again but let's talk about stuff that's worrying you again and it's all common note that -- to have.
A big big storm right now but what worries it.
Well you know I as a business owner I need certainty so there's a couple things that I'm certain about I'm certain my Texans are going up which -- -- less money.
To invest my business.
I'm pretty sure that congress is not going to address the -- runaway spending that we have in this country.
I'm really certain that they are not gonna do anything about entitlement spending and I'm very certain.
Nobody knows what's gonna happen with health care costs -- 2014.
So as a business owner I'm really scared all I know what I'm gonna have to spend more money.
And I don't know what's gonna happen with spending so I'm very concerned but the thing I'm most concerned about had no one's talking about in this bill and that they extended unemployment.
For another year which means that they have an unfunded mandate that's going to the states to make.
Print money for that so -- to be in worse shape than we are North Carolina we 02 point nine.
Billion with a -- to the federal government for unemployment and employers -- in for the unemployment.
Should I have to pay but this -- I have to pay 84 dollars a year for every employee I have this year and it goes up 21 dollars eight year mile per employee until we pay -- off.
No one's talking about that.
Much I have a problem with my employees I mean I feel bad for they have -- -- myself.
But my employees during the catering to an indicator and many many employees just before we had we had -- -- payroll -- control of the first pair of 2013.
And -- -- -- had a lineup of the law people asking -- thirteen and fifteen dollar issue -- their -- the average person making 700 dollars a week.
Just lost fourteen dollars and -- they check that the 2% think that I agree Karo hum pica.
And that that's money is taken off the street the people don't feel you don't spend more that they want you don't -- disposable earnings now is is more -- more taxes.
More you know more expensive gas -- the -- Any -- you -- and at least you know the unknown with that is getting into Agassi at least you know now.
How much taxes are going up at least you don't have that as a big unknown.
Right you don't buy them.
It's a big unknown IIs more surprises to get some more surprises to -- have to worry about the healthcare us how much more -- everybody sustained.
We truth the country just got -- that that's the -- he's just gonna say.
David let me ask you you have been raising your baker a new numbers this bakery operation at an end up to commodities inflation is is the worry for your.
And -- -- said last year there was no inflation and you would.
Always remind I beg to differ.
And now those costs are probably going to be.
All of a lot more.
What do you do will.
Yeah well I don't know -- what do you do that that's the scary part that's the unknown.
You know what I do know my customer has lost money to -- shopping that's what I do know I'm in the disposable income business than they have -- disposable income.
There's one -- commodity price goes up.
So of the groceries -- -- her -- also -- care but -- our home -- the grocery store with my wife once and awhile.
-- you know prior to Christmas our with a guy that was gonna cook so -- are bought the stuff.
I mean and and you've you go to the store.
It's crazy and -- and you know these are things that.
The customers large customers that's who I'm worried about why -- last -- by him constantly spending more money at stake here and obviously that's not -- in the as the -- budget mess.
What happens -- is.
Date date they sort of get this spiral going all over again it cheapens our dollar eventually will cheapen our currency to the point that inflation does.
Come back right current.
Absolutely and then really what they need to be talking about right now it's okay they think kill us what what tax increases OK let's just swallow it move on.
But what they really need to be addressing -- job growth.
And -- -- by keeping this uncertainty about -- not knowing what's gonna happen with the dep at sit.
An entitlement spending united current splendid job growth you saw in this report on -- you -- -- promising enough.
No absolutely not you don't think people who is -- 900 people we don't and they're not all not -- -- -- all our mom I'm depressed it's it's it's terrible it's.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Well I don't know depends what it would surveyed you look at.
The president was all for the in home survey prior to the election.
And today the in the home survey says the opposite of what the government numbers -- Saddam you know -- -- what's happened around Saint Louis and it's been layoffs and firings from major corporations on down since the date of the election and then I think it's gonna -- -- -- and I'm sorry Dave what do you think it's gonna happen this year.
Man -- it's scary I don't know I know one thing our employees are gonna get a raise again.
And I know it's a lot of companies like -- so how does this economy recover.
When people's cost of living is greater in their income is less but someone explain -- to -- the president campaigned on.
Jobs in the economy what did this fiscal cliff just due to.
Make either one of those any better.
I've yet to hear the answer to that so bludgeoned to look at -- Public companies whose stocks have been doing very well.
This new year -- -- they're not nearly as worried as you.
Where's the disconnect.
-- -- looking at the average person the president's after the war got the people that'd doing all the little things.
The person that's you know -- the president food service work on the bakery people.
These people -- the backbone of the economy and that they can away from these people -- you do that.
How could you take away 1415 miles a week from a person make it 700000 would you do that the somebody like that it's terrible they look at that -- employee like I'm taking it from -- Does the government in an action that you have your arms and I don't understand that gets us to think with taken away from the sound they're looking for raises now -- lucky that -- surviving.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Someone is seen in that the president has talked -- this is directly to the president if you could get busier now not that the Secret Service -- let you -- and blame America.
A -- did you say to him what would you recommend -- do.
Well you know what at the I could get the restraining order lifted what I do it is as I sit down and talk to him about.
Bring in some small business owners the problem -- is that nobody in this administration has ever signed the front of a paycheck.
Something don't understand what -- yeah should grow.
Did grow jobs doesn't really talk about you need to free up capital and let me tell me what's gonna happen so I can play and but I could continue linked to hit me I yeah.
Nice thank you -- so.
