-- -- -- -- GE -- is one of the largest construction firms it has openings for electricians concrete experts and other building trades specialties but it struggling to find qualified workers.

JE done CEO and president Terry -- is also the former chairman of the federal reserve bank of Kansas City and he believes our country can get people back to work.

They need to learn practical skills that are easy and now and he joins me -- that's a lot to talk about that lets the openings at your company right now.

We -- 30000 people hired in construction over the past month -- used to have openings.

That are being -- that shocking because we feel like there's so many people that work.

You know hard at work during the big housing boom in construction been that are now sitting on the sidelines you really can't find folks.

When we if you can look at our industry over the last four years at where that country went through a recession we went through a deep recession.

As an industry.

We saw I was not unusual C drops -- wanted to 30% and volume.

We've had growth the last year of about 10% and we're looking to have another 10% growth and not 2013.

Yeah how many job openings you have you -- you're looking for electricians -- concrete experts.

I mean what how many openings have -- do you have how long have they been opened some color on that because that's hard for a lot of movies -- -- imagine.

We're a company of about 2500 employees and we would expect.

Engineers.

Designers.

Field workers -- we will be adding close to about 250 employees over the next year.

And so we believe.

The corner has been turning on our industry and -- weak.

Really dropped to the lowest part as far as going into a deep recession.

And our industry we're starting to see the the beginning.

They as somewhat of a rebound for.

The needs for skilled workers for engineers project managers people skills but you can't find that.

No we -- we're looking NM where.

Aggressively looking for the right people we want to make sure that we.

Recruit the best but if you can look and an industry.

That has the -- about 30% of the workforce.

Disappear in the depths of the recession that certainly us presenting challenges and we are visiting them very proactive -- a number of the universities.

They're producing engineers for industry at the moment.

What would you say to kids -- in college right now are getting ready to go to college.

Where does the future lying in terms of employment what should they be out there -- studying.

The we we see a huge need in this country for engineering.

We thank that certainly is extremely important for industry but we're saying that in virtually every industry that we do business for.

So I would encourage you.

Young people have to make a decision -- decision.

That engineering of any type looks very promising.
