Next guest says the suppose it rebellion against speaker Boehner was much less than an FBI.

But he's still being challenged by applying in this -- -- which seems like a very fine description.

There is a rule of thumb in politics when no good outcome as possible -- -- -- -- would support that.

I suppose frenetic like we're joined by Fox News senior political analyst Brit -- But this is kind of fun to watch -- we knew when you watch speaker Boehner lose just about two thirds of his -- on a very important vote that be reelected.

In your honor.

It says something.

How much you tell us -- Well first of all the vote you're talking about is one in which he didn't make a speech in favor of that measure.

He didn't Whipple on it it was an open vote it was a -- conscious deal.

Now -- you -- -- to pass because he thought frankly the debt protected his members from a worse outcome than otherwise would have occurred and I think he was right about that.

But he didn't have as much on the line as you might think those numbers were free to vote in a way that was pleasing to their constituents.

And they did.

And it's not surprising and -- all that all -- nine of them came out supported in the next day -- all but none of -- of the of the of the whole Republican group's so.

I don't think there's as much a book of a contradiction in the results is -- might appear on the surface.

-- are -- -- I'm concerned about a contradiction as I am amused by the fact that that the boat could come as it did the speakers album votes.

Voted any -- you know he voted early to make the statement that he did want that mr.

The past he didn't put that if you put it about why you didn't speak for it but he sure did love his members know I think you agree that he -- that that built -- But -- -- ways and ways of doing -- and he didn't immediately Leno and I don't in looking knew that there were Democrats are gonna pass and he also new this -- Democrats house and senate alike were voting in large numbers to do what.

To ratify.

Nearly all of the bush -- tax cuts which of those who we're in congress that the time had virtually all voted against.

And who would oppose them ever -- -- turnabout I mean this is all being looked at from the from the prism of Republicans wish list.

But that there's a great deal of dissatisfaction on the American left tonight about the outcome of this whole negotiation.

A great many of people on the left think Obama lost so.

You know.

There are more than one perspective on this.

There's there's certainly is that's why we want -- because is I look at it I'm I'm looking at four trillion dollars being added to the national debt.

I've watched a -- a speaker of you know why that is slow and because of the tax.

Because that because most of the higher tax rates that took effect on New Year's morning were repealed.

And the the measurement on the national debt dates from 1201 AM on New Year's Day when the tax rates were supposed to go up so yeah that's four trillion dollars to the deficit because of the tax cuts -- you're a guy who likes tax cuts -- it could you think they help the economy.

So before -- you know before there's too much worry about about how I came about it isn't because that this bill out and a lot of extra spending it added somebody didn't add all that much.

I guess what I'm worried about is a speaker and a Republican Party.

That allow themselves -- maneuver and again into one of these last 72 hour period of hysterical urgent bits.

In which they suspend reason and -- comprehension of the consequences of the public policy choices they make.

And they call that responsible governance and they are the same party that is going after the Democrats because in their judgment.

The Democrats -- you're responsible and fiscally imprudent and I would submit to you though I can't -- -- wit's worth the difference in the two outcomes.

From these two parties irrespective of their professed principles.

Well -- -- this cycle that there was some mistake that had to do these negotiations I don't believe it was made in the course of of of this latest round it was made during the last round when they set up what they call the sequester which is your call on the subset of automatic spending cuts that -- -- -- to go into effect where we haven't -- under the sequester -- hold hold -- tomorrow -- pearl -- let me finish if you don't mind I will.

The the the exit question was divided 5050.

Between defence and non defense and entitlements were basically off the table.

That was a mistake because defense is only a fifth of the overall budget so should have been 2080.

With a entitlements and the deal and if that had been the case the Republican leverage all through this all of this.

Would have been much -- greater as it wise what was -- what was gonna happen when the when the when the when the clock struck 1201 was not only.

We're tax rates we're gonna go up on -- everybody who pays income taxes.

But on top of that spending cuts are gonna hit which affected the Pentagon disproportionate to the Pentagon size and the Pentagon -- course in the military is an important Republican and conservative value.

So that the problem was the consequences.

Were were much more unbearable for the GOP than they were for the Democrats which is why the Republicans had very little leverage.

Two to win this negotiation.

I think is remarkable they got out of and is in good shape as they did.

Well -- I would never any circumstance.

Disturb an optimistic and positive outlook as a conclusion to.

To a discussion with you I have to say.

I think somehow that when we end up with four trillion dollars added to the national debt.

And we've got around to coming -- us with both the president and the -- say they'll never negotiate over a debt ceiling again you -- just wonder what the future holds.

Here's the problem.

The Republicans controlled House of Representatives.

The Democrats control the senate the Democrats controlled the White House.

The Democrats -- on all are on all terribly opposed to all the things that Republicans wanna do lower taxes by and large.

Reduce spending.

And reform entitlements.

Reform the tax code in a way -- new revenue neutral.

They don't wanna do any of those things they that they'd they end they have two thirds of this three legged stool in their control.

That thereby limits what Republicans can hope to do it is a lesson lost.

I'm afraid on a number of the new backed ventures in the House of Representatives which is why I've dubbed them the pie in the sky caucus.

Well as long as -- -- stays in the sky will be at least.

Somewhat -- we have are the old -- 08 reward lands autos again.

Brooklyn for we're appreciative everybody retired -- -- happy new year have figured out.
