Storage until you're writing a book I am yeah yeah I've got a book idealist Simon and Schuster it's due in August I -- get cracking on it.
And I want to tell the story of Broadway in New York City in the late sixties and early seventies when -- -- was falling apart.
Virtually bankrupt oil and as you know the city was was literally bankrupt.
And were -- guys who came together back then and they saved Broadway they saved the theaters the political -- -- schubert's fall the near Landers.
And in so doing they helped lift the fortunes of Broadway Times Square and ultimately New York City because today Broadway is a multi billion dollar global business which shows like we did in Jersey boys in cats.
But back in the late sixties it was an industry that was on its last legs -- around -- Now I mean the whole listen rock and roll had kicked in so that kind of destroyed the great American musical theater.
The city was was was dangerous Times Square was dangerous so they lost half their audience in the sixties.
The red white flight back then went all the white people in the city were fleeing the city -- not coming in anymore.
So it was a real treacherous dangerous time and I'm fascinated by on how empires are built.
And today Broadway is one of the most important economic engines of Broadway.
That was -- Times Square was -- background.
Ethnic and -- at a restaurant or some memories of that -- Mickey Mouse and tourists now well that's the you're actually right about that there's the flip side of all this.
Which is that it has been it -- -- -- and -- from my money I think that the shows are not too oriented towards kids.
So you've lost -- -- the really great American musical.
Things like My Fair Lady carousel these -- shows for adults written by adults for adults now it's all for for kids so I think I think you have a good point -- we've gone too far.
So -- get a few more drug dealers and prostitutes paring back neighborhood we could swing it back the way -- Else caught thought there was some don't want to -- -- rocket vigils on American anyone in America owes the American individual for kids there well -- were recent shows another for their for Smart kids and and adults -- that kind of music -- rock -- -- is.
Not the greatest show in the world but American idiot -- a very Smart sophisticated -- rock musical a -- twice.
Sort of more replies on the ground I mean how many -- you -- see Beauty and the -- Little Mermaid.
-- -- -- -- -- Every little -- rest -- talking there.
Cheesy elements are limited because everything like those are black case president Donald Michael -- that are about it doesn't have much of last season of -- -- -- and I was there it was really lame -- -- this last full.
And I resolve this by New Year's resolution to attack.
Viciously and without quarter.
Every bad broadly show and cost producers who put on these shows millions of dollars each anything coming up government decision -- out there are couple things 1000 -- new news usually start.
It starts right now -- -- you know after Christmas cakes and -- that -- am looking forward to is that -- -- that Nora -- wrote before she died.

A or any and -- you wouldn't commodity.
Want to -- -- -- are things so they were letting him oh is taking -- -- networks and that but to point well I don't accord was -- de -- 01 of the few people who stood by him.
And I was -- -- number but -- I remember clearly -- And -- when you and it's probably didn't stand by you.
And we we did and so we went on to a fox.

He did a column in which a woman who said she'd been raped he said -- made it up for political reasons and he was wrong about that.
And so deals -- that and also deals with.
Frankly that last heyday of New York newspapers when the papers really had the the pulse and the heartbeat of the city and guys like Breslin -- -- Hillary or without a senator Barbara prisoners there was he was absolutely you know it's great writer troops are -- -- son of Sam on -- level.

That should be good and it's about parents who hate their child aren't really hate it shops on -- -- Quarterly go to -- that let me I don't know.
That's that's -- before -- order book -- So that's I would look -- to that and also I have to say I think the biggest event of broadly is going to be Imus on Broadway.
Which I think is February 11 right.
