Higher taxes on themselves and the state overwhelmingly voted for the president in the election -- 60% to the state voting in favor President Obama for his re election.

Sixty point.

So let's bring in Tom bell -- congress plus he is incredibly enough chairman of the Republican Party in California so forgive me I'm not being sarcastic but I didn't think the Republicans existed in California and longer but you -- that -- is that correct.

It is anyway it was a rough here in public employee unions in California prove that they're probably the most powerful in the country all right what's -- 2013.

Hold in store for California.

But economically California's gonna do worse than probably the rest of the nation I agree with you they have very little come out of this California taxes are on top of the -- -- taxes and all the other tax increases.

You'll probably see a weak economy which means Republicans in this state in the legislature.

Need to be ready with reforms and alternatives to to the failures what Jerry Brown policies will be.

But I put it to you that there is a block of voters it's a very sizable block of voters in California who don't give up that don't care about the economy.

That didn't care about debt they have no they don't care about it at all.

They're involved in totally different separate issues and that such a big voting bloc that you cannot vote amount Kenya.

Why you know I think that applied to the nation -- -- that there is it big trouble when it comes to California the number of voters that are disconnected from the economic issues but I think they move -- senator eventually.

Because California's two million able -- a bill able bodied people that are not working right now and at some point they're gonna want -- answer -- do they can't.

Made that they've got all kinds of government programs to support them.

What why should they cap indices California La La land and into -- ground assault on the weather's great.

The beach is a terrific I mean why -- things that I another facetious but he told my -- -- obviously a relative part of part of probably part of the problem of California is that we Republicans are defined by what happens nationally with Republicans.

And Republicans -- need to get -- agenda recently I wrote in Forbes that what Republicans need to do especially now that there's no cuts or real cuts that are happening.

What Republicans need to do is once a month paso real reform to a significant government national program.

Put it on Harry Reid's desk go out on the capitol steps and hold a press conference and say we're saving you this money now make them pass this.

Winging national Republicans to show that they are for government reform and that'll help California as well.

You can't do anything inside California -- because I think the Democrats now that magic two thirds majority in the legislature.

They can do whatever they like and you can do anything about it.

It -- legislative Republicans right now are in -- there's a lot of press reports that came out after the election saying that this will only last for two years.

If Republicans don't get out of the capital I suggested to them for the last two years they got to get outside the capital.

And in the district and work with the new voters that are here in California and create an identity and a relationship with them.

If they do that then those -- the seeds of recovery you got a tough job and -- I mean I'm.

And Alaska sort of -- -- how do you really feel about this you know you're the chairman of the Republican Party in California which is being devastated the polls.

Well you know I've.

Over the last ten years I've done over a thousand events in California probably over 2500 radio shows I talk -- a lot of people who do care but what they need is leadership out of the legislative Republicans.

And nationally.

They need Republicans.

Nationally to show that they're they're really true about wanting to reform government instead of going along with this program so.

It -- lot of ways it -- -- called but I know there's a lot of good people out there that need leadership California needs leadership.

And I think it's you know what it.

Politics is a pendulum game the -- who's gonna come back nationally but Republicans need to get out in front with real reforms that they -- -- come back.

Last question.

Can you give me all of us on what I think is the likelihood.

Of California asking for a federal bailout what is it 50% 60% -- -- -- what's your judgment.

Well I think by next July that the deficit -- is state deficit is only going to be about five billion dollars so I don't think you'll see -- -- when he thirteen but I think the economy will get worse nationally over the next two years for all the reasons you've been talking about.

I think it's more likely and 2014 and 2013 very interesting Tom and even a difficult job would really appreciate you coming on the show so often Tom -- -- car for joining us -- version.

Happy new year and you -- the highlight --
