And as speaker Boehner yanking his plan B from the house floor due to a lack of votes as members of congress head home for the holidays what -- -- next -- -- exact Capitol Hill.
With the latest Peter what a mess.
Yeah -- lots of finger pointing this morning Melissa because there is no deal to try to avoid the fiscal -- he got everybody pointing fingers.
And each other you dipped into -- senator Harry Reid on the floor of the senate that he called up plan be phony and said that the way to fix this and avoid.
The fiscal -- is for the house just to take up this bill that the senate passed back in July.
That would extend the bush tax cuts for everybody making under 250000.
Speaker Boehner this morning and his press conference said that is not gonna happen over on his side he said the senate should take up the bill to extend that the house passed and and -- August to extend all the bush tax cuts for everyone and use that.
As a starting point and he said that the Republicans still want to deal with tax reform and significant spending cuts.
What the president has proposed so far simply won't do anything to solve our spending problem.
He wants more spending.
And more tax rates -- more -- our economy.
And he simply won't deal honestly.
-- entitlement reform in the big issues that are facing our country.
And after plan B fell last night the White House put out a statement and said the president's main can -- priority is to ensure.
That taxes do not go up in just a few short days the president will work with congress to get this done -- -- as of right now.
Doesn't appear that anybody's talking to anybody Melissa.
Peter you -- I gotta tell you from here it looks like an absolute circus.
I mean that you are there on the ground you're talking to everybody off here -- you've been -- for a long time you know everyone.
-- undecided about what they think is really gonna happen we've lined up this company what are the -- team on this hi.
There there you know I'm getting all different opinions -- I -- -- I have been asking members on both sides what's next weekend and they avoid that cliff.
And some are saying no the president wants to go off the cliff because.
It will have some Republicans are saying this because it strengthens his negotiating hand they feel some others think that perhaps.
If this senate bill for extending the cuts undertook -- 50000 comes over to the house there could be.
You know the Democrat house Democrats can vote for that and then they just need 25 Republican votes.
To pass that in and make that the loss so it isn't exactly very -- you know it's very fluid.
That reasonable to that really happened -- act I'm not I'm so silly.
That when I when I was listening to those last two speeches I was thinking like are these people proposing actual things that could happen maybe these are two plans that are real was that posturing.
-- either of the two things that we heard the senators say in the past fifteen minutes here real possibilities.
Melissa in the -- -- you don't have to live in Washington to see posturing path and that and I think that that's exactly what's happening you're seeing.
People are trying to figure out.
If there is a way to put to cobble something together to to at least put a patch on this to avoid the fiscal cliff.
And and and -- I can't tell you any certainty if they can pull that off.
While RA Peter Barnes maybe you can -- work something out what did you do that you can skip the next -- -- talk to people work something out how about that there.
A possible but I had left I'm -- I wouldn't be I have just getting.
