So while the president is hopeful of fiscal -- deal will get done in time mayor Bob -- -- of Tampa Florida is concerned.

What how possible higher taxes will affect the tourism industry throughout the -- he joins us now.

This an interest interest because we know that -- local mayors are across the country are worried about the fiscal -- deal but I think this is one that not a lot of people are talking about giving higher taxes and really take a buyout of tourism in your state.

Well.

Melissa what I do think is if this tax bills not passed in middle class folks don't get the exemption that they Mori's -- that you're looking at about 4200 dollars per family now.

That 4200 dollars could mean a trip to Florida that 2200 dollars could be disposable income.

That could be spent to help grow our economy so my concern is.

Not raising taxes on the 2% and that 2% was it 250000.

Dollars I would imagine -- -- much less at 750000.

But the 98% of people who need those middle class tax extended or the people that I represent and those are the people that are traveling to Florida for vacation -- Which props up may I hear you but you present a lot of those other folks to -- that 2% there are a lot of wealthy people that live in the Tampa Bay Area.

They don't gorgeous homes on the Gulf Coast there I think he would be worried about raising taxes on those folks to remain near real estate market has been among the most depressed.

It's finally making a comeback.

Why would you want to raise taxes on your wealthy citizens -- there.

Well.

It's a question of fairness Melissa it's a question of those who have prospered the most giving back to to the country and doing their fair share.

I think they are more than capable of -- an additional amount.

I think we need this bill passed I think it's a fairness issue it's a moral issue the president campaigned on it.

The country spoke loudly and clearly that they were in favor of his proposals.

We need to get this beyond us as mayors Melissa yeah have to balance our budget every year.

We can't kick the can down the room.

Absolutely although last year you YouTube didn't balance your budget you actually ended with a bit of a deficit you have to take money out of your rainy day -- I think but going back to the other issue.

You know I'm just wondering your housing market is finally recovering here but you -- -- take money away from your wealthy citizens that would run the government.

45678.

Days I mean.

They the idea of fairness in your mind is is worth hurting your community -- Well -- you have to -- the numbers that what you're talking about 1% who can afford it.

Vs the other 98 or 99% of the people that I happen represented as well that need the extension of these middle class cuts desperately but more port.

He was never -- tax breaks why did you do that rather than taking money away from the people it in your area I Annie why would you want to raise taxes on anyone in your area to -- the government.

For -- day.

Well it's more than extending it for eight days I think the question is do we crap to deal.

That is sustainable in the long -- we can't continue to bounce from crisis to crisis to crisis it undermines confidence in the dollar.

It makes capital that is willing to be invested in my community sit on the sidelines.

People need stability and economic system they need to know that the politicians in Washington DC.

Are doing what we sent them there to do if mayors were in -- world we wouldn't have these problems.

We can't continue to kick the can down the road there's got to be cuts on entitlements but they're also have to be increases on the revenue side.

Mayor but corn -- coming on I'm coming down to Tampa their Christmas to enjoy your beautiful weather is to make it nice and warm for me okay.

I will do the best I cannot sir thank you -- --
