Thank you talk a sniper attacks against banks earlier this all -- scary -- -- you hear this smack you lamps has a new report.

Seeing a major bank hack attack is expected in the coming months and this time.

They're going right for your money.

It's called project blitzkrieg and get this in an early -- Pilot program they've already stolen buying million dollars from US bank accounts here to talk about how to protect your hard earned cash.

Is colonel Layton.

Cyber security and risk analyst at yeah.

National Security Agency colonel welcome back to the show license should say -- Cedric -- thanks so much for coming on.

I'm a pleasurable is who's going to be review -- for me what exactly is going on.

Well what's going on Melissa is this the there's -- there's this guy named to vote words we'll move so conduct as -- corn imports opponent had -- done this week.

-- -- Broad view is that it's basically means the -- from law ended Russian and so he's blue literally a god father like figure within the Russian hacker community.

He is very brazen post lot of stuff on YouTube the talks about exactly what he's going to do and books that Tony is.

Interested in going after people's money and he's targeting particularly affluent.

Private banking customers.

-- rich people all over the world but particularly in the United States.

And during this last attack in the -- he was involved in this basic test run for operation brits who puts -- He what he ended up doing was he ended up.

Going into approximately 300 different accounts.

I didn't have various banks the top of which I was Bank of America followed by JPMorgan Chase and then Wells Fargo.

-- a lot of lot of different things that he's doing but he doesn't just targeted those Big Three banks he's targeted all kinds of brokerage.

Remains all kinds -- I've got a lot of questions right away first of all these on YouTube talking about what what he's gonna do -- -- he being stopped how was he able to steal five million dollars already.

Well what he's done is he's basically saying I'm in Russia I can't be touched and -- that's how he's looking at this so he's saying.

I'm beyond the reach of the western law enforcement agencies and the Russian law enforcement agencies can be.

Brought bought by me and -- body all the people in his organization.

See it makes sense me before we saw these a lot of these same banks being attacked by cyber hackers they were just trying to crash the website.

Of the banks that it would slow you down in Indian convenient but they were actually trying to steal money now somebody's actually figured out he would a good idea what steal money right.

Right exactly so what they're doing is they're basically stealing your credentials.

What they can do for example one way to do this and it's not necessarily the exact way that they're doing this but one way to do this is -- you on FaceBook steal your credentials from.

You were FaceBook page.

-- -- and then to provide you with a false web site that looks like your bank's website.

So what will happen then is you will dutifully typing your user ID and your password.

And to think that you're getting into your bank's website.

Well when that happens they've captured your user ID your password and possibly other identification features that you Jesus.

-- -- we're doing this they're doing this because first bond I can't believe it's coming all back to FaceBook again this is this is this -- can't.

Story and in the past 22 minutes where because I'm a member of FaceBook something terrible is happening to me is that they're mean outlet of of getting on board.

Not necessarily it is one way they could do this it was something that was used is in hack attack against the it was a palace.

Back in that in the spring of this year.

There are other ways that they can do this all kinds of social engineering ways but basically what they wanna -- -- they wanna find out what your -- he is and if you're an affluent investor.

I would definitely safeguard that kind of information.

S have been headroom to together and if they can -- the web -- they can possibly get your data.

Real quick how to protect myself.

Basically what -- To -- you check your bank balances on a daily basis -- there other ways to do this or some technical ways were read you can basically mirror you were PC sister and workspace best for PCs not for apple computers.

Where you can have a mirror type system.

That is based real Linux based -- system that turns your computer into what -- based system.

But that's a little bit cumbersome to do so the best way to do this is.

First of all take a look at your bank balances on a daily basis yeah if there any anomalies even small anomalies because what these guys are doing is they're taking.

You know ten dollar here at fifty dollars here -- do those kinds of things they're making it work in such a way they can then accumulate.

A large sum of money out personal estimate -- that they contest to as much as 5200 million dollars high just by ones and -- from very rich people.

Who might not know -- my.

Really noticed that although I'm a JPMorgan private client I'm not really sitting on FaceBook all they probably but anyway I I you're you're saying -- brought gonna be very careful colonel thanks for coming on.

My pleasure Melissa thanks for having me coming up.
