It's today but we will start our guest lineup like going straight out west to San Francisco where we have this CMO of you -- rates.
Pearson -- rich.
Standing IR SI and good nice to see you -- so -- that they don't know what is he -- tells a little bit about it.
-- is a place for and businesses of any size to you find freelance talent and get instant access so if you wanted to build.
A -- -- you could post a job and get five or ten bids from people all over the world all over the country.
You would actually do the job for you paid them through our service once you are happy with the work.
-- and -- online freedom and work is it seems to be the new job creator for -- look now but especially for the new year right you're seeing astronomical.
-- Abs absolutely and it's really knows no real surprise when you've begun on the freelancers side of your work final word.
I would be much more comfortable rather than going into a corporate job going to all that.
The meetings instead now I can go to work from anywhere and get access to jobs that will pay might might pay my salary that I pattern in the in the full time environment -- to -- business side ahead.
And visit on the business side the benefits there are really clear yet you have people working for you and hours not weeks or -- months.
And.
Yeah a lot of medium entrepreneurs that we bring on the show especially in Wednesday's -- have a small business segments they say that they really do recruit a lot of people online.
For small jobs winning you website redesign or whatever it is at a small business -- it would need -- two questions for you though rich first one would be.
In what areas of the country is this popping up the most and also what kind of industries.
Is online freelance really booming -- So we're seeing growth and and a few areas and we have this this concept that we're seeing is kind of escaping your local economy so if you're -- -- a city like.
Fresno California that has unemployment of over 13%.
Your your options are pretty slim you can either go down to the local job board or maybe extend your commute.
To 90% so we're seeing a lot of freelancers in fact over a 100% growth in cities with high unemployment.
Who are earning -- line where they couldn't -- in their local cities.
On the other side if you're a city like San Francisco -- to get a user experience designer you've got to get maligned for weeks maybe even months.
You can go online and hire somebody from other areas of the country said these are really the pockets that we're seeing and actually play off each other -- It makes sense.
-- -- Fleiss is a look at some of the -- trends because there's a dangerous thing but I had to ask you the levels and in -- quote.
I just his carries it it was quarter over quarter growth or year over year but nearly 200 -- over.
Quarter over quarter very -- okay 220000.
New jobs were posted in the third quarter.
That was up for 41% from the second quarter and this is from online employment that is a big number -- -- -- ahead.
It's a huge number don't you think about it you know it we're we're almost at the cusp of being -- being recognized by the Bureau of Labor Statistics week.
By the end of 2013.
We think this is a sector that needs to be trapped.
And that's really interesting point to how how many not track you -- how what is the conversation in the discussion like to get them to attract you.
Well you know we're small scale but we're really -- fast as you said and you know that at certain points.
We are in discussions right now -- certain -- we believe will be tracked by the end of the -- Thanks okay I ended the FOK the other up parts of your survey showed that free -- earnings are hitting close to fifty million dollars.
Nice absolutely and we have and we're releasing any sectors that that that -- they the traditional economies have.
The jobs that are that are going on line are a -- mobile anything mobile is really hot right now so if -- wanted to.
Developers and iPhone and android app you can go online get this.
For you know maybe 101000 dollars in a few months depending on your needs and get that very quickly and really -- your your business mobile if you.
Yes makes cents.
And then on the business skills that seemed to the end and high demand for online work what what would they be sales and marketing -- imagine are some.
Yeah -- Absolutely so you got the technical secretary you know the technical jobs -- -- technical talent is still at a premium all over the country.
But also on the other side sales and marketing has really -- -- up over 60% and specifically those.
That if it were tapping and -- the moms working it at home they're able to work.
You know add their brainpower to whether it's marketing strategy -- copy.
Designers that this is really the sector that we're seeing the highest growth.
And then -- -- riding on there which is that's see you can live from anywhere right has.
And you can read from anywhere in in when you think about.
We're seeing interesting trends where the CEOs who who you know need to be online and participate in social media there are often getting -- rated content.
From folks online who are giving them the stories that they still write themselves.
But they're doing it in a -- where they're they're getting very highly efficient content sense about.
Quit -- CMOs are writing their own stories that the research is being done online.
-- -- -- -- And nobody has the time to spend 24 in a seven reading all the stories sourcing -- a lot of folks who are using.
Helpers to cure rate -- content in their sector to give them something that allows them.
To -- to say something Smart -- -- -- see those ten articles that they -- can't comment on for on that day.
So that begs this follow up question how does one insure that that freelancers being that it has the appropriate skills what's the job recruiting process like in the online -- It's a great question what what we do you prefer for every freelance -- that you see -- Lance.
You see they're complete profiles that includes their -- in skills that they want to bring them in.
You can see all their reviews that they've done in the past and comments from previous businesses like you.
That -- that have hired them finally can see their rate and any comments as -- their portfolio as any of their previous work they've done online.
OK yes you know there's a study out -- career builder that shows seven out of ten buses say that they hired a bad and we'll -- in the past year.
And that bad employee cost 25% of those businesses at least.
151000 dollars and one of the reasons is they're not being properly vetted so that's what made me think of the question because you know then people make -- company.
You know so when you make mistakes like that negative attitudes and basically.
Lost productivity lost time lost money.
-- -- and when you're doing it online you can maybe start with a little project and that's what we recommend if you're a business first going be -- start with a little project you can put it as an hourly job.
And -- money aside or a fixed price job.
You get the work done and before you pay and this is key.
You have to prove -- work so if you're not approving -- you don't have to pay so there's there's a try a trial process -- -- that's really effective.
-- it honestly it sounds innovative genius and also really simple I'm glad it's working and we have -- a chat where we had viewers right and and sometimes ask.
Folks question so we have can anyone read this that this the -- my guess he wants to know what is the difference between inland San.
And linked -- what would you say -- average.
Well really when you think of Lincoln it's a great way to find people eight in your profession aren't other prepared professions.
What are UN says it's not only in marketplace that we match people on talent.
But it's also -- workplace silly on UNC actually the person does the work and you pay for the work during.
Three -- so you can do it as I said on a fixed price basis are hourly.
However on Linkedin is just really a matchmaking process where you think of that online dating -- like online dating so we care what happens after the match.
Which Pearson thank you so much for coming on today.
He -- dot com on the screen right now thanks rich.
Thanks a lot lord -- in our question of the day.
