Well obviously the hurricane -- was devastating it.
Many families some of the businesses in the Pacific -- in the Atlantic northeast and there is an emergency funding that needs to get done.
Needs to get done as quickly as we can do it.
But there's a lot of requests in the sixty billion dollars that the president requested.
That we haven't -- -- -- that we need to -- to make sure that it's targeted the just doing the job we expected to do some of it is more long term.
I suspect what you're gonna see is an emergency package.
That addresses the needs that we know -- there.
And then probably later on one that we have had the -- chance to vet and see if if those needs are real and and that if they should be done through emergency funding -- through the regular appropriations process.
You know this a better -- I do congress and I commend you for what you're trying to do because a lot of people and it's probably argue and say -- you know you'd like to Scrooge a Christmas time.
While you're trying to make sure is that we don't -- good money after bad and sadly.
Our hearts are bigger than our heads -- this sort of stuff we give a lot of our all of ourselves.
Our money our our resource is only to see it it it's wandered away and never get to the folks from its intended.
So what's wrong when you look if you'll probably -- Lansing Sima and getting the money to the local agencies are groups on the scene.
Who can get the money out and -- helped out faster.
Well that's one of the things we have to look at is how -- how do we get the money out -- targeted.
And it isn't is it gonna do the job that we expected to do -- you know we.
After Hurricane Katrina -- tried it and put a lot of money and into the relief area in the Gulf Coast and looking back at at there was a lot of that -- it was a waste of there was a lot of what the did good things but there was a lot of that was wasted we don't want a repeat that effort.
As you said we're all good hearted and and we do want to help those people in.
In the north -- and we're gonna do what's necessary and what's required of us I think to help those families that have been devastated.
-- you know these songs are so large congress artist of the sixty billion dollars to this region it's a lot of money a lot of did -- -- -- -- a bad word for -- rebuilding the infrastructure that could be more -- came resistant.
Storm resistant high wind resistant.
But who's checking to make sure they're doing that and not -- some.
You know -- either some union groups pockets or.
Some politicians who are trying to curry favor.
Well that's what our staff is doing that's why we're scrubbing this request very.
Closely there's actually people from the Appropriations Committee staff from the Appropriations Committee in the northeast now looking at this request -- and what exactly it's gonna do.
And a lot of these things are more long term spending than they are short term.
Yes they're gonna need relief in those areas -- you know the American people are very.
Gracious and helpful to people when they're when they're in need whether it's wild fires or tornadoes or hurricanes in Florida.
We step up and help our neighbors and we wanna do that there are families out there.
That don't have places to live that are that have been devastated there are we need to get the economy growing in that area again and get it back in in.
