But the suffering is over for Newark, New Jersey mayor Cory Booker -- completed its challenge to live on through stands for a full week the rules were simple.

Just 33 dollars for seven days but Fox Business is bearing on Charles Payne says.

This is happening this huge opportunity.

To help get a record number of Americans off food stamps Charles joins us now.

Sadly you know I think did the really the goals we get more people of food stamps you know with the with and it feels like in I -- -- people let's say we're very cynical mean spirited their kids that are hungry again.

Yeah I mean that was one of the reasons he took up the challenge but you know and that's that's misleading also -- -- the bureau of -- to snap program food stamp program is still qualify for -- Which is from other infants and young kid sees you challenge you qualify for mills a will to challenge you qualify for.

A lot of things I mean there really is no reason any -- to be going to school hungry I mean really there there isn't.

You also can be on these programs and received welfare also so.

You know -- 33 dollar today you wanna break it down and we find in the reality to.

-- you your point there though is that in the title it says it's supplemental.

The idea that is not a snap -- program leaving only 33 dollars -- that this is a supplement the other programs whatever money you might.

They even make the point in the marketing of it that 60% of people -- on a program have some sort of job or income coming into the counsels say that underscores the fact that.

It's supplemental.

It's designed to help you out.

It's designed to get you through a tough period of time.

I don't think it was ever designed for someone to be born on a program and -- program.

Say that the problem with this now isn't all logistics it's the passage.

Write a message it really it.

Right now the message is we -- people more you know as a birthright being born in this country somehow the government that the nation a country.

Owes them more that they should get more money so that can buy more food affected -- on this Twitter feed accord Booker is talking about farmers markets and things like that and it -- I think.

One of the big problems that we have was with respect to poverty in this country is that we've made it just comfortable enough.

And I know this when people get upset when I say this but it's just comfortable enough.

That a lot of people don't have the impetus to get off of it and this of course.

By putting more money into it it's and by the way it's underscored there was an article this week and Huffington Post.

By woman actually was trying to support Cory Booker with respect to the idea that this is an enough money to the Ph.D.

but -- -- hit hard patch in life.

And she was talking about how hard it is to get off of this what's actually does is it it's it's more to the point I'm making.

If you -- it it's designed so that you make the transition but if you make it's so comfortable that whoever get off that well.

And they make the point that.

They wanna get more at any time you debate this with anyone in the -- they talk about how yes the goal is to get more people on food stamps and if you needed they want to raise awareness and that's -- they do the ad campaign.

Because they want more people -- in in fact the number of people in the program.

Has increased by 54 times greater than the number of jobs that have been gained in the same time period over the past four years of work.

We're putting people on food stamps faster.

Then we're creating jobs.

And that is a shame because we are also creating a different kind of -- dependency and you know it's not calling someone moves or anything like that -- just saying -- human nature gets the point like that woman with a Ph.D.

That you know if you give up on the on the idea that this society.

Has opportunities out there for you -- you do become some sort of you didn't there's sort of a faustian deal the government OK keep -- me pay -- my rent pay for pay for everything I need including food.

And you've gotten you've got my vote out well for you as long to continue to make this this situation -- -- and a just a little bit better.

You really believe it's more demoralizing then hunger or not having you know not.

Filling up your food basket in the bank.

So what or when I was growing up you know there's a point wouldn't have any money and I -- -- -- going to the supermarket was it through you know coming home and whole bunch of canned foods stuffing you know having food in the house.

Really really felt could -- it also for me was.

It is also told me I never want to be in that position as I became an adult myself.

You know nobody wants to go hungry but I don't think anyone in America's necessarily going hungry but.

I think it's morally wrong to create a situation where people are trapped like someone with a Ph.D.

who says it's hard to get off the program now.

While we make it even the more enticing how much more difficult is it going to be to get off the -- what do you -- answer -- The answer is of robust economy.

Yeah -- to be quite frankly did did the answer is an economy where we're now looking to divvy up the spoils but to create new prosperity for everyone to forget about the trickle up or trickle down.

Creating opportunities really embracing -- free market.

Grow the pie grow the pilots are coming up any bitty -- -- -- grow -- more exponentially.

And then there will be more opportunities but all jobs but I tell you the message that does come along with this the message of victimization.

The message that people don't like you.

That would help a lot to the politicians would turn that around it somehow listen.

You know if it because you get a certain amount of food stamps and not more doesn't mean that other people cross the other side of town disliking.

You know -- you -- that you know find.

I -- the leaders people that the -- of a lot of people would take take the time.

Two promoted -- message but that's not the case has been divide and conquer and actually testing thanks so much -- -- grain ratio so.
