-- -- And meanwhile Michigan the birthplace of unions might be -- right to work state as early as tomorrow.
When the governor is expected to sign the newly passed legislation but that is not stopping President Obama from Wayne in.
Slamming the bill as Republican efforts to give workers the right to work per lot less money he says.
With more on this Ford O'Connell chairman up for the civil acidic form pack.
-- -- your being here you know.
This goes back to the Taft Hartley act.
In 1947.
I mean states have a right to do this -- and it's seems really odd to me that the president.
It's getting involved at the state level like this.
Well Michigan was certainly ground zero today for the latest installment of Obama campaign -- -- you're absolutely right job sort of premium right now.
And one thing I think should be noted out there -- Michigan does become -- 44 what you know.
Right to -- state is that over the last decade right to work states have seen a net increase of three point six million jobs.
What union states on the other hand have seen a net decrease of one million jobs this is a good thing and frankly the voters of Michigan voted for this when they knock down a that proposition.
On the ballot in 2012 that essentially tried to enshrine union rights and the state constitution.
-- you know Michigan's had enough he knows that the best way report for growth is through yelled right to work policy is not what they wanna -- Yet because really as a business why would I come to a state that.
Is union I want I want to deal with those expenses.
On my balance sheet or blanket statement -- sent.
Well that that's absolutely right it doesn't allow for you to run efficiently you we saw this would GM in the you know recently.
We saw one thing that should really shocked some people is that.
And twenty -- There were thirteen sort of Chrysler workers -- were fired for for using alcohol and marijuana while on the job while making cars.
Well guess what two years later all thirteen of them got.
They're jobs back basically because of union backed arbitration and you know Chrysler had a site unquote let them go back to work.
It union rules do not make it very efficient and basically what the unions.
What what what everybody's looking to do is basically to -- the automatic deductions from payrolls.
The goes to union fees for those who don't join union workers really what Michigan's trying to do right here is be very pro worker.
And and I mean you know.
Let's face it great while I don't wanna be forced -- work I don't want to feel that as a worker -- for the workers it's good for me to.
It seems though almost odd that the entire south is still union where you get your north northeast states.
All right to work why do you think there's such a division there.
Yeah -- really can't tell you but I think it goes more to the mentality that you know the war -- should be free to make their own decisions and and frankly since Michigan is you know the birthplace of unions this is a big knock down -- if if Republicans can courses built broke and obviously the unions and the UAW are crying uncle but I honestly their retirement home.
That's the problem though right union membership is falling.
Precipitously.
And now you have the political donations basically being the only reason.
That the president is in this state and backing this right because otherwise there's not that many union workers left out there.
Well that that that's absolutely right the basically the union dues is sort of been the crack for the politician to keep this sort of scheme going and it basically if you can take those -- the unions are not allowed her you know dues to be deducted just what it's going to crumble look at your company -- -- -- Yet they go for -- not -- the last words thinking very much.
