Do we fall off the fiscal cliff made me -- secretary Tim got this as the boys in the republicans' court to compromise.

-- No I can't promise that that that's that this is -- lies in the hands of the Republicans.

That are now opposing increases in tax rates if they recognize the reality.

That we can't afford -- in this tax rates than we have the basis for an agreement to be very good the American and the architect so it's all tax me tax me tax me that's the only way out of this and it's Republican's fault -- -- over the cliff OK I got back.

Joining us now Obama and composite Simon Rosenberg.

As African production Simon I got that patent that's -- pick up a tip that look before we launch into your talking points and I -- -- zero.

I want to mention this.

Mr.

Jim cynical.

He's the -- of the founder of Costco -- you know.

He appeared at the Democrat convention big supporter of President Obama loves the tax the -- idea.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Mr.

Sinegal walks with a check the fourteen million dollars he pays tax and he gets twelve million cash.

If -- -- made that payment next yeah the dividend was next year he would walk away with eight million dollars so by cheating.

Obama's tax the rich philosophy.

This Obama's support got an extra four million dollars I'd say that's hypocrisy when you join me in condemning the hypocrisy of the super rich.

-- -- -- it's good to be here and yeah yeah I'm gonna have to look.

I'm gonna have to look into that want a little bit more closely -- -- a lot of but I do remember -- -- -- done issue of course of course yet I look I think.

I what I is -- -- -- I think there is progress being made in these negotiate.

And I think we're getting closer to a deal before Christmas.

-- -- And you really want that at the bottom line is and look I agree with you but I don't I -- agree with you I don't know about under a deal before Christmas.

But I assure.

That the president will insist on taxing the rich I think it's it's written -- just on the wall.

Get out that the rich are gonna pay more money in that at the beginning of next yeah I think we agree on the right.

-- that's what he campaigned on and -- -- strong reelection with a pet now.

When eight if there was no agreement the Republicans will get the blame one -- Because they rejected this deal -- generous offer that came from president of I think -- some.

I think what's important reviewers -- -- that you know there is a plan on the table it's the fiscal cliff and we'll have.

Very large tax increases for everybody in very modest spending cuts the president's proposed something that would force all that.

Which the Republicans don't like very much and I think what's gonna be -- now is can the Republicans offer publicly an alternative.

Either of the fiscal cliff for what's there what the president as offering the president's plan was put on the table last week it was not met well by speaker Boehner and by others.

The question then is what are the Republicans for how to they wanna get there to to stop us from going over well -- -- I think everyone wants to get them.

I I could you know we could go off on this tax -- -- -- -- day but I wonder there as as an inside among Democrats and that's what you loss on an.

I want you to tell -- what plan does the president cowboy any Democrats -- planned -- half of two reform.

Socialistic -- to reform entitlement what's the -- sure.

Show so first of all in if you remember well Stewart it's Mitt Romney.

And the Republicans beat up on President Obama for the last three years for cutting Medicare.

A 716.

Billion dollars so he's already shown that he's willing to take a big bite out of a major entitlement program.

Maturity happens right you got a second son that yes yeah that I know I know that's it caught and I I do remember it under -- -- -- about that's not withdrawal.

That is not reforming the swell job of entitlement programs and back.

Guess the issue isn't it.

Well so on I think the focus has -- a Medicare a lot of people believe Social Security is a much better shape -- that the attention now.

Needs to be on Medicare inside did amend the ACA the American health care the president's health care plan obamacare.

There were large structural reforms in the way that health -- was playing out you're starting to see them.

Take place and in fact last year we had a slower rate of growth and overall health care spending that we had in quite some -- -- there's some evidence that there's some initial.

Down payment towards getting -- health care costs under control because that's -- really what we have to do with no -- thing -- what the president has proposed is part of the current negotiations.

Is another 300 billion dollar -- reduction in Medicare -- Republicans remember -- on record for increasing Medicare the Democrats want to.

You do understand why the wind up with what we really need to talk about is reform structural reform and the president.

And has no plan Paul Ryan that's not true sir that's just not true you okay in in the in Obama care.

There were large structural cost savings -- at that were attacked that word used to put in place against the entire health care system.

They're just beginning right we haven't seen them play out.

And certainly we're gonna have to be coming back every year and remember the budgets must happen every year or not through -- extraordinary negotiations.

But usually through committee process for people voted the end of the day.

The reason we're here at this moment is this the Republicans decided to take another course around the debt ceiling which are what I'll do again it is and so all also is that I don't agree with you.

That there's not been both structural reform.

And cuts -- been both -- I think to say otherwise is unfair to the president.

Okay that's a very interesting last note on you'll want but I have the last would gyms -- -- cynical rather it is a hypocrite.

But let's not get into it now is study Obama -- -- Simon and what is abundantly yeah that's a much sites through several states --
