Marlow the president made with leaders of the nation's biggest corporations.
On how to deal with.
The looming fiscal cliff Charlie Gasparino says.
This is a big -- -- its he's here to tell us why.
Well I mean these meetings generally don't produce anything -- to -- the president doesn't care what business leaders think.
He has an agenda and you know you really know that he doesn't care by the very fact that a matters -- -- as we were first report.
Basically offered himself up as a chief negotiator.
For these talks between -- -- between pres Obama and congress.
A bipartisan guy guy both sides of the aisle like and guess what he said no way.
At least so far sandals C perishables do little media towards -- he's going to be aspect that question specifically.
If you cannot do a deal or can at a point -- tumbles to a major have a major role in these negotiations.
And you don't care about the business community business of the guy that -- work both in government and business.
And he's a perfect go between for both sides so the president has an agenda this was a photo op what is scary about it.
Is that it's you know it just shows you how low that that corporate America has sunk.
It that they would sort of be part of this sort of dog and pony show because it really it didn't produce any I mean do you think it's changed his mind listening to those.
His whole idea about a second term he gets cities -- -- -- that none of that you know I felt no no I mean I think the I think the president.
Is more emboldened he won 50% of the vote he got less votes than last time.
But he's warm -- that he thinks I mean there is a sort of I don't fewer shrink you might say he's living in another world but you know he thinks he has a mandate.
And I'll tell you guys are really think we're gonna hit the fiscal cliff really I think there's this and you know there's certain things like you the bad.
That Tuesday -- went on the air I said.
He's gonna win no doubt I know there's a lot of people running -- not Romney would pick up there was internal polls.
You I just knew that if you just look at the polling what was -- and we -- a lot data on this is more about this is a feeling this is a feeling and this is why is this haircut.
I -- telling you.
That the president is emboldened he's saying he wants a raise taxes he wants a raise that operate rate and a lot of other taxes.
The Republicans in congress I don't know -- cave into that I mean they stand a chance if they caved in on those rates.
They stay in the chance of losing their coalition Tea Party years we will we will will revolt and there may be a third party they don't act and I'll take it.
It this is the fiscal cliff portfolio that you know we all talked about first on the fox -- network where you had the worst of all worlds the president winning a narrow victory.
We're Democrats picking up some seats and in in the senate.
And the Republicans maintaining the house insane you don't have a mandate he comes back into the you don't have a mandate.
And they were at odds and I'll tell you it's gonna be -- if that happens.
What about the CEO's -- so it's a dog and pony show but if they don't -- loaded these meetings that the white house calls don't they.
Potentially pay a price yet and that's that shows you how little corporate America has sunk eight this is crony capitalism it doesn't matter if you produce -- good product you have to be in bed with the White House I mean GE.
I personally like Jeff Immelt as a person of these of these guy.
But I mean you know he is you're sort of classic example of a crony capitalists Smart guy politically right of -- -- know who you know if you if you know anything about him.
What he knows where his bread is buttered GE gets a lot of benefits from the federal government.
I just can't let along got money the government spends and you don't slices of bread and it moderate right and here's the thing he and he is much more politically malleable I just can't imagine.
That Jack Welch and I am I know Jack pretty well I'm -- -- more friendly reject but I just know I just can't imagine he would jump through the hoops.
For Obama for the president and this White House in this political agenda like like Jeff Immelt has but Jeff knows where his bread is buttered and it's with.
-- lot of -- with government.
-- Charlie and not much Wall Street unless you count I guess tension Altman American know Wall Street a wall so Wall Street and even worse no small business if they were really worried about getting the economy going to be -- businesses as you know.
That ship jobs overseas.
Who who hires here at home.
Small businesses not one represented -- -- that that was a shame.
I've been meeting that'll be a whole incident I don't think about that okay you just great -- -- we're short on time think about what he did.
He met with the union leaders he met with the crony capitalists when is his meeting with small businesses and -- -- cut it.
I as a -- announced it.
It well may get a hold your breath now I -- just yet consol now Charlie would have reported italics all leverage -- -- -- let's go.
