This came just days before he was scheduled to testify before congress on the -- attack on the US consulate in Libya.
Now questions are being raised over national security and whether classified information was released by his mistress -- abroad while.

You know Charles the way this works as planned Petraeus would have gone from his -- job to the CIA job.
He would have a new investigation he would have been subjected to a polygraph test the polygraph test the first.
Skew is is there any -- in your background that could be an embarrassment.
At that point anybody who takes ethics -- -- right you know in the DW I I had in twelfth grade.
It -- but -- at that point Petraeus.
Would have it would have come -- -- somebody knew the personnel office of the White House probably knew the FBI who was conducting new and I was eighteen months ago so why now.
People worried -- you know there's some scuttlebutt about pillow talk that cannot listen -- can.
Things that might have been said secrets that might have been told that a lot of people believe maybe that's a serious issue here.
I'm -- concerned with that as I am the whole idea that what might now happen in Washington is paralysis.
For another seven was six months.
I was in the White House during -- data what happens when you have one of these investigations.
Is that it goes on and on and on their -- -- trip to suspend Gaza they're all these questions that have not yet been answered about -- -- -- a -- not going to testify at least not this week.
So what will happen is we will go on and on and not.
Is it possible that he may have said something that would embarrass the administration have been -- and that's why.
To answer your initial question now why now.
Well you know that's what people are talking I don't have any answer -- that but I have a lot of theories.
Why now would the administration have said the Petraeus here's what we want you to say what Petraeus has said no I'm not going to say that.
And then with -- everybody called each -- -- When I was in the White House what happens when a senior cabinet officer testifies before congress.
They submit that opened testimony they have their initial her parents -- months.
To the White House at that point that issue would have been joined say a couple of days ago was that -- -- issue.
The bottom line now -- -- David Petraeus is now free to say whatever he wants it hasn't worked for the government anymore.
He's free to tell the truth.
Although it's unlikely because of their hurdles that he faces I ruffle any more -- -- in the -- -- No we get our -- -- France's democratic kind got it runs towards the bullets.
He's done something really stupid and really terrible -- come forward and admitted it I don't use those who still hold -- regard.
And it different regard but I think as -- as a patriot he's a patriot can continue to best and thanks a -- -- thousand.
