-- just two years ago the Tea Party made a name for itself by bringing attention to important fiscal issues and focusing on the constitution.

And as a result -- did they have a big impact on the 2010 elections.

So where was a Tea Party this year joining me -- Tea Party patriots co-founder mark mettler and mark we talked about this before.

What happened where was.

We're we're to Tea Party 2012 -- the show up.

Absolutely Tom there out in force and you've seen a much different result if they weren't.

I understand it's been a difficult week for conservatives is certainly difficult week for two partners but we got a look at the battlefield as we leave it on this Election Day and that is.

We maintain the status quo in 2010 we accomplish the biggest electoral sweep in the House of Representatives.

Since 1938.

We not only maintained that ground the selection we've taken the hill -- we can do it we added -- -- so.

The status quo has been maintained its not as bad as conservatives are making it out.

Yeah yeah but that's the thing having you -- that huge impact in 2010.

And this time in just a little bit of a change in and one of the things that we talked about the past mark.

Is that this is something that you folks are going to.

Keep chipping away at mostly in local elections so what city councils mayors.

Local officials to try to groom the next wave of of politician.

That's going on all over the country -- been receiving a flood of emails over the last couple of days.

But people who want school board elections City Council mayor races people who come up out of the Tea Party movement.

That's a wave that's been launched it can't be stopped -- see its impact on politics over the next forty years in America.

Well if that's the case -- you are a California resident.

What's happening.

As the -- that you're you're you're.

Citizens -- your fellows that -- there's said let's raise taxes on herself let's raise taxes on the higher income levels.

I I don't get it.

Plot I don't get it either Tom and you know as a former California in this -- been -- a very people for very long time.

I don't know what the solution is it if -- one of Republicans in the legislature which is Scott democratic supermajority.

I might declare defeat and just go home and let the Democrats take the state into the hole they're gonna take the blame when it ultimately collapses as they should.

I think -- need to go back to that big is this super majority means that Republicans are infinite.

-- that they -- they can they can pass the Democrats to pass anything they want and Republicans have no say.

Absolutely we've been pretty close to that in the past and the Republicans have had very little leverage.

But enough to stop some of the worst stuff now they have zero leveraged.

Democrats have a two thirds majority which means they can pass anything they want including tax increases.

And they can even override the governor's veto so there an absolute total control and they are controlled.

By the unions in California so the unions effectively own California.

They're gonna do whatever they want to the state and we're gonna see the perfect laboratory for liberalism in California.

Did it really is it will be interesting to watch the there was an article -- -- that I read yesterday.

Get word came from but it was somewhat -- article talking about your co-founder Jenny Beth -- A great respect for Herbert she was quoted as complaining about the fact -- Mitt Romney was a weak candidate troop.

You know it's he was certainly not that chosen candidate of the Tea Party movement but to be fair he was chosen in one of the most robust primary processes that.

Certainly that I've seen in my -- time it was hard -- it was long fought.

The American people got to see the candidates on display over a long period of time and they chose the candidate they wanted.

I think it's a look a little.

Shortsighted have sour grapes about that the electoral process worked as it should.

And I think frankly he did a pretty good job of running the campaign.

Yes I mean you can find fault at all campaigns but would Newt Gingrich shores somebody more brash been.

Been more appealing to the Tea Party.

Maybe more appealing to certain factions of the Tea Party there was a lot of division over who people supported in the Tea Party there was I don't think a clear choice in the Tea Party.

And so the American people chose Mitt Romney.

And if I want to place blame for the the way the election came out.

I don't think the blame is with the American people I don't think it's with the Tea Party I don't think it's -- the Republican Party I think the blame lies with the American Media.

If they covered this thing down the middle it would have been a blow out and Romney -- won but they spent months frankly they've spent four years covering for Barack Obama.

Aren't the Republican Party -- -- -- now they're trying to figure out what they need to do to be successful in the future.

Does to Tea Party do the same thing yet because that -- the key here is there's the stories are that these demographics are changing.

And youth.

Single women minorities.

Republicans haven't reached out to them they're gonna have to do it to be successful in the future is to Tea Party talking to those same group.

And the tea party's always talked to those groups -- I -- there's a Tea Party in south central Los Angeles or tea parties all over the country.

For tea parties -- run by African American leaders by Hispanic leaders and frankly if you look at the Republican Party there's a lot of that same leadership coming up in the Republican Party.

That being said I would say that the Republicans have always been terrible -- communication at communicating conservative values.

This year was really no different.

And Republicans also have a problem talking to groups because that's just not how conservative think we think of everybody as Americans.

It's gonna have to change they're gonna have to learn how to talk to groups whether they like it or not.

Are we gonna see Tea Party rallies out on the lawns of capitol buildings around the country.

I don't think so time people realize that that was a segment our time in the movement when people needed to get together needed to find each other.

That network exists all over the country.

People are now coming up through the political system and having a direct impact from the inside that's the way to change politics.

-- Barack Obama's that he can't change Washington from inside Washington DC.

The only way to change Washington.

Is from getting inside government at the local level and working our way up through the system is the only way all right mark mettler co-founder Tea Party thank you so much -- good to -- -- -- --
