In 2000 night President Obama became the first Democrat for a candidate to win Virginia since Lyndon Johnson 1964 Tuesday he did it again.
Beating Mitt Romney 5148.
So what went wrong with the Republican -- Joining me now -- not a Fox News contributor and check of Virginia victory 2012 but -- welcome back.
-- you did get it wrong because right before the election you -- you what you gonna win.
What went wrong for the Republicans of budget.
Stewart I used to -- out wrestler in college and when you lose when you get beat.
You're out there are all -- all alone on the Mac and that's really what happened on Tuesday.
You know we got -- plain and simple why that's how did that happen -- I mean -- I would think of Virginia.
As a center to right state I don't know why I think -- -- like -- but I do.
-- -- Well Stuart.
President Obama is an unbelievable campaign -- He put together a terrific ground game that -- doors -- it simple I am not.
With you know hundreds of thousands of provisional ballots and absentee ballots out there I think it is a little too early.
To do the post mortem of exactly what went wrong because we don't know yet -- -- what will the next couple days we will the next couple weeks but I do not believe.
We should retreat.
On our principles.
Agree on how to get a free market made maybe it's something hit it is maybe an explanation maybe the nation.
And Virginia have shifted have changed.
It to the point well.
Half the population really wants has been a Ronnie said stuff from the government paid -- by the -- -- half.
Now that would be a shift in American culture in who we saw you thing that's happened.
Sure there clearly changing demographics in Virginia that said.
I refuse to retreat I refuse to believe that we need to cave then.
And say that there should be a larger government yes there are a lot of federal employees in Virginia.
That said I believe the case and he made that we're gonna have more prosperity through a free market.
Through you know unleashing entrepreneurs like myself out there.
To turn this economy around -- Obama -- I do not think we need to throw the baby out with the bath water here.
We cut the margin that Barack Obama.
Had -- 2008 in half now halfway to the goal line still isn't a touchdown so.
We up plain and simple we got -- but we should not.
Retreat as a party on our conservative principles we should not take the stumping -- say oh my gosh we need to go back.
To the entire drawing -- board there are certain things we can communicate better and do better out there and we're gonna learn our lesson.
So you think that a political message geared towards let's grow the economy for every -- As opposed to speaking directly to specific interest groups you take the big picture let's go -- growth is my plan a full growth.
You think that is still a winning political campaign message.
I -- Stewart.
But you can target is well this is 2012.
Going on 2013.
You can do both you can have a great macro -- -- out there about growth about an opportunity society.
Did you can pinpoint you know again I used to -- BA technology.
Marketing entrepreneur or you can pinpoint -- such a way to get that message out so there are a lot of things once we have all the data and we're gonna look and say how do we get thumped and where and how we make short never happens again.
But retreating on our conservative principles is a recipe for disaster -- great thing about Virginia.
If we get to litigate this every year we have -- -- is that every single year twenty seconds give me a name of American Margaret Thatcher on American Ronald Reagan a growth plus.
For 2014.
Sure wolf for fourteen year for sixteen or for I would take highly just just give up -- about rough growth candidate.
Well I think Marco Rubio would be terrific I think Chris Christie could be terrific I think -- -- folks like Mitch Daniels who flirted.
Could be very good I still think the other is there's oxygen out there for Rick Santorum.
There is a whole lot of our bench is.
Incredibly strong okay -- not -- -- confidence thank you very much to dictate good luck to coming as soon as soon how can I thank you.
