Good -- a -- sorry real -- on I was up says you're told that -- him -- net analyst Shepard Smith then you know.
Are -- are part of about a go to -- -- because Alamo.
-- I got up earlier but up.
How how soon did you -- the talks.
Our general sense because I know -- you learn before read that we know that does the president gonna win re election.
Let you know I mean we had a look at the exit polls early before the evening started.
And it looked like things were trending towards a President Obama so LA -- that was clearly the first.
Suggestion that things we're not gonna go up from -- Ronnie last night.
And then when we sort of started to get the feeling that Ohio is going I think everybody knew that at that point it was over.
I was not a lot of Clark right yeah but Virginia and.
Don't called Virginia episode after eleven in Virginia came late yet again that they held voting open because they at lions trapped travel block and they want to give everybody a chance to vote so.
Virginia which was supposed to be very well organized in coming early and upcoming play -- -- open -- the call Virginia.
For Obama about to 730 Citi just pack -- in and -- and I know solar ruined all of it hundreds of millions of dollars.
But the networks count on no election coverage the -- avenger more adamant don't wanna my network of cardiac data debt -- -- shortsighted right.
-- -- -- On any analysis -- in a month.
All you folks -- -- this all five or why this happened.
It you know what I looked back at exit polls at the end of the evening to to see if there's a theme there.
It struck me that the main argument that Mitt Romney had was that he would be better at handling the economy.
And when it came down -- -- the question of who can handle the economy better came -- 4849.
Very narrow.
Between the two of them.
Who would handle the federal budget deficit in a more effective way.
4849.
So -- a Mitt Romney did not successfully make the argument that he could fix the economy and I think the president successfully met the argument.
That things were starting to turn around I mean.
It out it it it baffles me in many way this this outcome when you look at the US economy when you look at the fact they've got.
More people on food stamps than ever you've got you know more people on disability than ever.
Lots and lots of disabled people in the country.
Who can't move can't go to work -- -- get a check and -- isn't it strikes me you know met Ronnie got hammered for this 47% comment that he may.
That he would never get 47% of the vote because they were too invested -- the American entitlement society you know perhaps it's a bigger number than that perhaps we learned that last night.
Are well one wonders to with a sixteen trillion dollar deficit.
-- sergeant in -- -- potential Watergate like cover up scandal.
What's those those insistence on remaining in Afghan essential.
Than their brand and -- facts and -- why can't ignore that.
The -- lot of reasons in this country.
For people out of or -- if they didn't.
We're -- it as a credit have a country by the morning.
I don't know I look at across the reasons for this it blows me away that 42%.
Of the people who voted last night said that hurricane sandy was either -- most important thing in their -- -- was very important in their vote.
I had a hard time wrapping my head around a pay I mean I I can only -- -- Religious -- artists like him.
How would you consent after head around -- permanent director hands around them -- they had to attract enhanced sound.
Think about -- -- and I like you don't want my -- and during the -- we're not a thing arguing your show and treasure my wife larger I don't understand whether it's coming from.
And some electorate -- monitors and you're full of -- and loves what Martha continued here's my here's my Arthur continued right.
42% -- it makes me think that the only thing that a lot of people have a memory for is something -- happen in the last five minutes.
I also think that the theory that other places that have suffered from hurricanes were sympathetic that they saw the president on the ground but here's the thing here's the bottom line.
I still have no power at my house people are.
Suffering in Staten Island the likes of which.
Most of the country has no clue about.
And they essentially gave the president credit for fixing the problem quickly -- handling it well.
I think there's a lot of people who feel who -- of water who don't have food don't have socks.
In the metropolitan area -- New York City that this was not handled well so I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that 42% feel that.
The good handling of that issue was a good reason to vote for the president -- to stick.
At a local and -- event that.
Governor Christian -- president.
Both figuratively and lower Moreland.
Had a renewal any of those I think -- -- where president who do.
I didn't and bottler Bruce Springsteen brother Bruce Springsteen and him.
And -- I like awful numbers and GOP -- and attempt at a -- -- Governments should governors a long time fan so -- it -- a big moment for him but then and I think that you know it remains to be seen.
Sort of what that the long term impact of -- he's gonna -- a lot of heat from a lot of Republicans.
And people are gonna blame him for at least impart.
For what happened I don't know maybe Matt I yet but I I think it had that that element of it had very little to do that.
One area that -- it shattered tristate area new -- island New Jersey a pencil and was your house damaged at all or not it.
I have nothing to complain about -- have -- power I have no power left and I am you know we're fine where wraps it I'm right aren't -- -- localism part of us on a farm and along I don't.
And they lost power Monday night and Portugal Monday night.
And so on the leveled and that darkness to be like on Long Island they came in and apparently.
Affects the power but.
He did not know about and you -- today.
-- -- -- There was a -- -- truck across the street former rob Lowe's.
And his name of one over scenario dude -- don't have -- power here the guys similar -- analysis on for a week.
And so they look kinda straight and a couple of a couple of telephone hold on -- -- it was a red light on an apparently one of the workers.
Have forgotten the -- transformer -- -- -- overweight.
So that's very big check -- transformer oil prices on my block as soon as I leave here rob selected because he set the -- and cold.
But his family's not a chemical.
So -- through this was an apartment producer transaction.
Yeah that's they had gold -- virtually no slave.
You show starts at 9 this morning it does so where you have people like Dick Morris and and Karl Rove and boom you're gonna lose their blood on -- learnt well.
Peggy Noonan -- running.
And ask a sort of what the future of the Republican Party is and what she thinks happened last night and about the president's speech you know she's such an amazing speech -- I don't.
And I want to know what she thinks about the president's speech whether she heard anything -- new America.
And what the signals are -- of second term.
One could infer -- presence.
Initiative in or implied that he that he was willing.
I didn't say is gonna work of other people but he managed to work -- members of his own party and obviously members of the party.
To get things -- -- seem to suggest but he was gonna do an event you.
-- I mean I think work is the essential word in what you said and I hope that he does not you know decide that it's all about the legacy.
I hope that they get down to work and -- up their sleeves and one of the pro one of the points that may Iran amid a lot of campaign chalice -- the president hadn't sat down at the Republican leadership since July hadn't called and reached out to them since July.
So I think a lot of Americans would like to see.
Him be more instrumental in leading the charge to getting things done in terms of the fiscal clip is the first order of business course -- Could greatly contribute to -- you know I would punishment.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Entitlement reform that saves us programs for the long term are necessary -- -- to borrow and thank you very much -- -- -- Martha MacCallum -- -- am fortunate.
