Data just -- out of his live in Staten with more on the hurricane recovery efforts there what's happening -- What we're watching people -- strangers come by with food water and also assisting you know pulling out debris from the wreckage but the topic every -- -- discussing is affected the New York City Marathon is still going to be run.

On introduce you -- two very important people.

Who live in this area -- in Midland beach first is John -- who grew up here his girlfriend lives in one of the house is behind us some of the houses condemned.

Others restricted meeting they can be repaired and others not impacted enough so that they can still be inhabited John the marathons going on what do you think of this.

I think.

Along -- many others throughout the five -- I think it's an utter disgrace.

What would you say to Mayor Bloomberg to maybe change his mind about -- those 40000 people come -- have that celebration and run is it an important to show that life goes on.

I can understand that he may feel might be uplifting and stuff but I mean their people out there that need the water.

And they need these hotels and it being used for these marathon -- as the water in the hotels and I I just kilts as skirts.

Okay now want to introduce you to new York state assembly woman I'm Nicole Elliott talked issue represents this area Governor Cuomo.

Just weighed in on this issue of the marathon saying it's a local issue what do you think of this.

I don't 80 look I think the governors and a great job in new York and and especially this tragedy but that that.

Is not a good answer for me I'm very concerned that mean we we need police officers here we need generators here.

We need hotel rooms here in all these things are being taken away to.

Do -- does marathon I think this is the wrong time and as a slap in the face to people Staten Island.

Now is it I do have to point out because when we came in we solve the portable bathroom facilities in the tents for the marathon is the 40000.

Just across the street from -- over -- middle of beach they do have Puerto bodies Verizon has set up potentially can -- cellphones.

Our the people's needs -- being mad get both take place.

Absolutely not we need every single resource to take one police officer way to take one generator away.

Take you know hotel rooms away I've constituents and and he emailed me saying that they -- being kids out of their hotel -- marathon -- and to me that is unacceptable unacceptable we need leadership from our mayor for a governor -- Eric -- the US senators.

To quote join us in this -- every cent on the fish was asked for the -- to be postponed.

And we want them to join us.

Now the governor said he won't weigh in on this have you heard from senators Gillibrand -- senator Schumer.

As of yesterday we held a press conference with both US senators and they were unsure -- said he would discuss it with the mayor.

But they were out here they see the devastation we need people we need resources we need police officers to help.

I mean it's just unbelievable somebody give the last word to John what would you say to the mayor to describe -- anger you feel that this -- with the marathon will take place.

I believe he needs to set his priorities straight.

I don't understand how this marathon could go on.

Like we said before this whole tones that people need to be living in that lost their homes the water present.

They're gonna be handed out to marathon runners is they're run by their people who probably evident what is -- days.

And it's a site it's it's heartbreaking to think that and it is like she had said it's a slap in the face.

Alright John snell and assemblywoman million talk is thank you this one as I leave here.

This is hunter avenue.

Some of the dump trucks sent the industry they were clearing debris so utility workers to get in here to help restore electricity tonight according to a guy driving one of those trucks department sanitation worker he told me the garbage trucks will be coming through.

Won't be easy to show you with a some -- -- take a look at that pile of garbage right there.

That's what they're gonna be picking up and you see that not only here but you see it.

On streets -- Conner avenue and as you get over to other parts of Staten Island in what was zone -- the flood zone.

It's just even worse you've seen some aerial footage of the houses that got destroyed there's going to be a lot of work for new York city department sanitation to take care of here.

And what they're saying is that work needs to be happening now.

And not after the marathon.

Back to -- its New York City the Borough of Staten Island --
