Let's go to Robert Gray who's standing by in New York right now with more on that.

OK guys.

Thanks very much -- -- -- fluid situation out here but we've just grabbed colonel Paul all over the US -- of but engineers US Army Corps of Engineers and colonel holiday so much for joining us here on Fox Business thank you hear -- all right talk to us a little bit about the situation -- -- -- surveying lower Manhattan you've had a look around a little more the city presumably.

Before we just -- you here.

How is this situation here after the storm last.

Right well it's it's doing remarkably well I think that's due to the fact of the city's preparedness -- the State's preparedness.

Clearly they've done a great job and building up infrastructure.

In order to be able to withstand that tremendous storm that we had last night and it it was a historical storm.

Extend -- if you've been around a lot of these storms here how does this compare with some of the other larger -- it's the biggest one I've seen out and I'm new to this area I don't think anybody's seen.

Water lapping up -- Battery Park the -- it was last night and I had a chance.

Observed that last night about 10 o'clock we were down.

Trying to figure out where the water was going and that's part of our function here right now is to help the city and -- with technical expertise for on how to get the water.

Out of the subway stations and and and conduits for electrical lines that are there right now so we're ready to help the city and glad to be part of their team that is obviously really strong.

At doing what he's be done to us for this situation.

-- wasn't a historic -- artist in at least fifty some years as they've been keeping records basically.

We don't went into like the restaurants right here beside us.

It inside creating some damage but you talk about the subways have you had a chance to go down.

Below what have a look beneath the service at the subway system -- -- where the power lines are laid.

Below the city streets of Manhattan.

Tom I have the city's got the primary responsibility for doing that but we did looked down there and and there's definitely water.

Well over the trucks and some of the areas in lower Manhattan.

Any any idea of a timetable given your expertise and in your colleagues.

As well.

How long we can be looking Mitsui cede power restored more fully and the subways -- -- that's obviously an MTA issue but you've been talking with him anything you can tell us.

I I don't really have anything to I don't -- -- make an estimate on that I think we're still at this time trying to craft.

-- how difficult the situation is you know there's a lot of things -- -- complicating factors that could potentially.

Make an estimate this time premature in the first step that you are recommending that its being implemented now.

Well we have a team actually the corps of engineers has a team from.

With expertise with on watering that happened in Katrina for the city of New Orleans and then also in Chicago in 1992 -- this at this moment in the air.

Coming here to fly.

And they'll be here tonight to help the city planners advise them on how to best and where to start first and -- -- rescue -- the war and -- -- -- -- along with the US Army Corps of Engineers say so much for joining us on Fox Business back -- in Syria.

Wow those pictures -- really incredible he's in his car submerged underwater and you see the tunnel completely filled with water subways tune coast that's critical to the transportation story here no one can get in and out of Manhattan would further the the translation shut down the roads obviously amassed so many trees down it goes on on very difficult.

As a colonel day was unable to give any timetable because -- still assessing all the damage --
