See how statue of liberty among others is dealing with the storm so far Robert -- their forests.
Aid and they're really worried Robert about the surge and I know they're very worried about flooding.
In the southern part of of Manhattan how -- things so far.
Yeah absolutely and with good reason -- lady -- whether it just fine as -- -- thus far but.
You could see the surge coming behind -- we talked about earlier.
And that predawn hours -- the Lotto is about 45 feet below the -- there you could -- waters cresting over it now.
There are some -- there but it is obviously not enough to keep it out fact we're on an elevated clap for a patio if you will behind.
A restaurant in battery Park City at the southern tip of Manhattan -- you could see there's another level there which is above the sidewalk itself felt there.
But the waters now starting to encroach up here as well also we're -- looking at several feet.
Of us well -- surge if you will coming in.
To all lower Manhattan now we've taken a walk around basically you're seeing like the occasional truck and it's -- off sandbags before putting sandbags and -- businesses.
They've also cordoned off all areas around.
The advance above -- subway system to try to keep water from gushing down -- there into the subways it's shorts are getting -- perhaps over the power cables as well that are laid underground.
They've also abused plywood to -- -- and closed down.
The subways obviously for human traffic but also again.
To keep the water from gushing down into cascading into the subway stations -- -- here.
In Manhattan but again we're seeing the waters picking up you can -- does the current has been strong all morning long we've been out here since pre -- Just a very few people around it seems like everyone has taken evacuation orders to -- and as several.
Friends myself who have evacuated from lower Manhattan businesses pretty much across the board are closed you talk about the New York Stock Exchange closing also of course the major investment banks.
Major law firms here are based on in this area as well.
-- the McDonald's and Starbucks the local -- all close within that the close area here now there's a hotel nearby guests staying there.
And it's -- -- the other hotels as well but basically all services coming to a halt business Staten Island ferry the path services.
The underground train from New Jersey close -- subway service -- closed down last night as well.
No buses have basically no public transportation again another reason.
You're seeing a lot of the banks in and everyone closing data along with the New York Stock Exchange making that you -- -- guys talked about an about face in the -- now all trading.
Here in Manhattan also -- -- the nymex not trading on the on the floor either if you wanna trade commodities you can do it electronically -- their parent the -- based obviously in Chicago.
It seems to be Robert that has been quite a progression.
Is we've been talking to you throughout the morning but for people adjust -- it again.
Since you've got there you're there.
Whatever was it was pitch black 4 o'clock in the morning whatever was and you know be the water levels that come up from where they normally are but now that it's a terrific shot you had moments ago for us it's not like the wind is an issue -- -- the rain is coming down a little bit.
But these rising water levels -- -- Jeff Flock talked about -- the Jersey Shore with the surge but here in Manhattan island as well.
It's got a cup for five feet right to come over that that barrier behind you and it's it's really progressed throughout the right.
Yeah I am Paul can take quick look -- you could see it again trying to come into this lower level of below us the patio the next tier down for the restaurant here.
And which is again slightly elevated from the sidewalk which runs around battery -- and if you've been down -- taken the ferry over to the statue of liberty or Ellis Island.
That -- -- from just a few feet.
To our do you west so when you know not too far away from -- you can see it's come off fortified feet and started economy even higher and we should note India has barely been raining.
Offer a little over an hour and change and in McConnell the heavy stuff -- got to cut out for a few.
-- all -- hours away from that so that's just it's significant to see that.
The -- that water strange -- even watch it coming over the the -- -- battery Park City so that's part of it Robert thank you Robert Gray in alarming.
