And joining us now as the former US ambassador to the United Nations Fox News contributor John Bolton also -- this former CIA operative head of the bin Laden trucking unit.

Michael shorter good to have you both here.

I'm going to be in a -- -- Mr.

investor -- the simple question.

Why in the world are we not able to get a straight answer from this administration over the course of almost seven weeks.

About what happened.

Why ask who is responsible.

And why is the the national media playing like a they seem to be nothing but -- darts.

Your thoughts but.

It took the words out of my mouth on the national media why can't we get a straight answer because the story keeps shifting in the story keep shifting.

Because the administration doesn't want to own up to the fundamental problem which is they were denying reality in Libya.

You know according to their view of the world war on terror is over Al qaeda's been defeated get -- removal was triumph of the leading from behind.

That would require them to admit.

That they had misjudged the situation in Libya which they obviously did their four dead Americans.

Second guessing what they did from September 11 to September 12 or thirteen.

I think is important but the main thing is they weren't ready before hand and they should have been that's where the real failure lies.

-- -- -- -- I'm not sure if they weren't ready mr.

dobbs I think -- the military probably was chanting at the bit to go and rescue those people.

I think there there -- always ready to do that and would coarse mister Panetta is just kind of up a creek.

People join the military to go into harm's way.

And and that in a non perfect world like the one we live and you know what you'd go with the best information you can't you have and you don't let your countrymen.

Be be slaughtered while you watch it and I looked -- on -- television feeds from the drone that's flying over.

Let me ask you.

To think that three to 400 Americans.

With the national security responsibility of various levels are various levels -- responsibility.

And rank.

Watched and listened to this.

And I'm leaving the president in the political.

The civilian.

Leaders out of this all together.

How could it possibly be that over the course of seminars three to 400 Americans.

Could watch and listen to.

For other Americans die I think -- -- -- -- is inexplicable.

And I think that's why their needs to be congressional and investigation but I just have to say for myself sitting here right now.

I don't think we're in a position to second guess the tactical blunder I'm okay I'm running -- -- I'm gonna Iraq.

Because I think I am in a position.

To ask the questions and -- -- term second gas is not an appropriate.

Expression for me.

The American people remember writing them bastards and now I will not fall into that nonsense is being spewed by this administration.

That to ask questions.

The answers that are the right of the American people and I and that this credit crunch and ensure that in any way even adopt -- -- Canada -- of the point is some people are saying they should have dispatched.

A special forces from Sagan Allah -- -- -- you know I don't know sitting here maybe they should have that my point is.

Knowing that this was a dangerous region knowing that Libya was a high threat post knowing that they've been getting repeated request for security enhancements yet why -- -- people already ready when this happened.

What we can and -- and internal second guessing they're coming your -- that's a bilateral and they got that bubble that's the funnier than the second correction and second guessing becomes why aren't more people expressing themselves before these events occur Republican Democrat I couldn't agree or we should have been talk I don't talk about national -- -- -- Some.

-- my experience in government is that no politician Republican or Democrat wants to take a chance that the media will ridicule him.

If he takes an action and it fails.

Mr.

Bush let Osama bin Laden get away from the Tora Bora mountains.

Because they wouldn't send American soldiers into harm's way.

And we had perfect information that he was in there and so we live for another decade and how many more Americans now say they would not send American forces and arms -- That's right or you're talking about specific well these the generals.

-- on the field and certainly not know orders came from Washington.

You know the CIA.

And -- -- was the general in command -- have that operation.

Always well he's the one outlet mall all our get away the night to have whether the night the thing started because he was afraid of his lawyers.

The CIA is not a combat organization mr.

-- An increasingly we're put in the in in the in the position of being -- combat organization who got to Afghanistan first.

It was the agency and we had the coffee brewing by the time the military got there.

Now I'm very sure there's been in the military who want to be their first.

And and -- -- Think I think you and I probably could agree and I think ambassador of Baldwin joining us I think -- -- all agree that three of us at least.

That there is a considerable confusion right balance in the United States government.

We have confuse the role of the military.

Without often guard Covert intelligence agencies.

And and frankly the USA ID.

And we've confused intelligence agencies including the CIA with the united states military.

-- it is it's not helpful.

In in anyway what do you think.

Well I think the confusion in this instance is in the White House and I think it rests largely in the mind of the president.

You know all the reasons we heard -- military of force couldn't be sent there wasn't enough time.

We needed the permission of the Libyan government -- that that actually was the CIA that the not -- request.

If the president.

Has an inclination not to use force believe me top career bureaucrats can find a dozen reasons to follow through that's where the direction was coming not from the data out from commanders in the region this coming from the president that's what people need to go after.

Market charter -- the last word here.

I I think that's exactly right clearly the president hangs around in this country with people who have always hated the military and hate war in hate defending America.

He wants the go to Las Vegas he wants to go to Jan -- he wants this.

I get himself flattered by callow young people.

While his soldiers in his ambassadors are being killed overseas he isn't suspect -- man in terms of being commander in chiefs -- Investor John Bolton Michael -- thank -- much more.
