Joining us now Forbes media chairman and editor in chief Fox News contributor.
Steve Forbes you've got to be relieved to know that the president of -- does not win election or reelection.
He could be a pay -- Well I think though he's -- now -- do something I wish you'd done for years ago.
That is on the lecture circuit tough I'd be -- glad to payment -- to get him out of the White House well anyway it's gonna take a lot more than you know that everything but a billion dollars of the has been spent.
Turn to keep him there.
Maybe more than that.
What do you see this all change compared to the trillions of deficits run up Somalia and that is that but they're not all.
We don't wanna get into apples oranges involvement -- -- -- Six commodities but the fact of the matter is this this president is.
In a tight race with governor Romney.
And it doesn't seem like there's a clear.
-- -- winner of least visible right right this moment.
I have to think -- I think governor Romney's gonna win this election I think the poll that really counts.
Others numbers that show the majority of voters feel the Romney's better capable of handling the economy than Obama.
The economy is the number one issue.
And even though we get little peaks and changes were still on about 3035 miles an hour and -- highway and we should be don't seventy miles an hour.
And people know this economy's not right they know the rest the world is not right so let's try someone else and when that first debate Romney proved that he has the stature to lead the country.
Okay if you he wins that first debate changes are arguably -- -- -- changes to the country without performance.
Presuming that he does win the election.
What in the world can be done by.
President.
Romney.
To change the direction the trajectory of this economy.
The U mormons and job creation.
Of machine in this country.
Well up number one get a solve the fiscal cliff which -- -- -- where we can pass legislation retroactive to January 1.
So we don't have a severe recession in the first quarter.
But the more to -- future.
Simplifying the tax code I think he's a genuine non that.
Stop the binge spending.
And fire Ben Bernanke get somebody in the Fed who realizes cheapening the dollar is not the way to wealth -- you know of course that he can't be fired people yeah you he can force amount.
He could force him out but those factors his term expires.
And 2014 -- Harry Truman -- you can fire Fed Chairman well.
That as a as well as general state.
So it -- if you want him fired.
-- I guess you could do that but IC none of that having an effect an immediate effect on 23 million Americans who are who have.
Just suffered under this administration.
And that -- people governor Romney to his credit does talk about the -- three million people.
Who don't have jobs who were underemployed who have given up looking for work.
And then we've got a group of CEOs who come out the -- -- may be speaking for all of the US multinationals like supposed to say.
You know we really would like to go do that that Simpson thing.
We'd like to raise taxes.
He was rejected by both Republicans and Democrats.
What is going on we finally hear the voice of business in this country business leaders and they come up with -- us.
Well defend depends on how you define balance if you -- dean jumped the -- and sharply reduced tax rates I'll take that 1986 we did that.
Remove tax shelters from the tax -- cut the top rate from 1528%.
You do something like that this economy and less precise number Romney is already proposing.
Of what effect is this nonsense from AD and CEOs.
Well I think what they're worried about is that we've got this huge tax increase that is already slowing the economy down.
And debt the key thing here I'm gonna try -- things get -- -- is.
Is everyone can declare victory like -- in 1986.
We got the rates down.
We took -- out the Democrats and what we took junk out that was sort of a tax rates know the key thing is get those tax rates down sharply again I precisely.
What Romney understands that avert an equitable and just impeach the president I will -- the present.
Romney is the president he is already made these proposals that what is this group of folks -- it.
I mean I don't understand the the motivation.
I think they're just trying to kick -- but.
And what are they and for four years well better late than never -- -- but the but the bottom line is when you will repeal Obama care.
Now when you would start to get a sound dollar again and get people thinking we're gonna do something on the spending -- the tax side.
The juices start to come again the government's not anti business that's critical the government's not your enemy anymore at least not as much of an enemy.
As is under this -- apparently Steve Forbes is always good to see you good to see thanks so much thank.
