With are you ready everybody sitting down nothing more than a PO box and an answering machine.
Did shoring up selling -- -- it distorted story -- with that -- that got cut off shirt the whole thing these are the early days and then as he progressed it started to bring in the millions and then billion dollars a year joining me now in this first on Fox Business interview with John Paul the story -- Paul Mitchell co-founder and CEO and we brought you here.
Because now big businesses that do very well are complaining in their earnings report written down about uncertainty.
How uncertain -- the times when you started your come.
Has been a socially first of -- hello out there I love you writers janitors Goldman Sachs will -- all out there okay.
What we started our company inflation in the United States.
Was twelve and half percent unemployment ten and a half percent interest rates as high as 22%.
You wait in line for gasoline we were happy and excited.
Just to be able to pay -- bills one week late.
Level of liquidity earnings -- really -- -- people the world -- took just two -- terrorists before we have a we would call money we can distribute to ourselves so.
Does this with these companies complaining about uncertainty because I've read that surveys going back decades.
The number one thing business is always complain about is uncertainty why is it getting so much traction now -- is that just an excuse or as a legitimate.
I would say with all due respect it's an excuse.
You look at Paul Mitchell -- -- John Paul pet.
They've grown every year in the last four years now why -- they grown because we know that times are tough times are little different.
We have to work a little bit harder a little longer.
And do things just a little bit smarter and while we're doing this we have to take care of the rest of nation on Q1 -- example.
Our students -- Paul Mitchell schools.
In three months just a few months ago raised two point seven million dollars to help people of the united -- the world there were less fortunate.
Now did they say these are students and school right in our 115 schools and they say all the economy is -- there's no way we're gonna raise a 100000 dollars.
They said let's go for help people out.
It's a matter of you're thinking where you're -- if you're business and you have people working for you and you can make a profit with all due respect shareholders.
If you could make a profit any profit -- are low it's at times work harder but get out but I think of working harder and I want our viewers to know this.
Before you started this you couldn't find a job you work he worked as a janitor -- -- sold encyclopedias yes.
So you cleaning floors could you clean bathrooms you -- what it took.
Are Americans doing that today with.
With a lower unemployment rate than what you saw back in.
The -- I think what's happening today a lot with all due respect once again is.
People that they aren't thinking right -- I Gregory from high school you either had -- -- he walked into where you went to college if you're fortunate enough for you wanted to the military.
People are used to working today people are waiting until they're in their twenties to leave home some people say -- I don't wanna get a job because it doesn't pay enough.
Well that is solely are you kidding you've got to start somewhere.
-- Americans as we the people.
Give anything to help you and then progress up the line of that you attended both conventions Democrat and Republican assignment since you've been watching the debates.
On on any of these is there something we're dying to hear from the candidates and didn't yes there was.
And it was the accountability.
I went to both conventions I talked to people -- -- I talked to people that we're advisors to both presidents have guys.
What you say this we're gonna promise this this in this and by the way we're gonna had a sentence on in writing.
I will do it my first -- started my first year or tell you why couldn't do any part of that or I'll resign after one year.
So I started some cost -- Philly campaign dot com -- only five people signed up on the.
All they don't wanna be held that there -- to their promised so that's a -- pick up politicians.
You know you -- number 88 -- the American Forbes billionaire list now after having as I said in a janitor and really.
You know what what's the lowest point when you're running your business where you thought only -- -- -- -- will take the first two weeks have been so I don't know -- good my budget for eating was two dollars and fifty cents a day.
That was my budgeting that's all we have had.
I'd left my situation.
The wife had left I just lifter everything behind we were getting along a -- everything -- could there be money there there wasn't any of the Becker pulled out.
I can live off two dollars and fifty cents today for the first couple of weeks -- something came in collecting Coke bottles -- by the way.
Live in my car -- rip apart down the street to figure out how to do it.
So that's pretty low and started this is at the same time.
But I -- America work I knew that the product I had was still included Paul Mitchell that if I told enough to people about eventually.
Someone's gonna reorder.
I love to see people like -- successful but more importantly.
You outshine a lot of complainer zone -- in this world complaining.
Think you're so -- ask a question -- -- gets you nowhere.
Incident saying -- to good jobs there how put all the job she could start at minimum wage start somewhere and work your way up.
Help out that for starters how what if you could fix a car become auto mechanic there's 6000 jobs available right now front of mechanics nobody is -- how about.
Got things are hurting.
Cripple the pay you may want go to North Dakota for a while they're more jobs here for people the people could possibly feel well it detects a little bit of effort doesn't it John Paul -- jury -- great to have you here good luck to you.
-- -- -- -- -- Irish capital at all -- -- by the way it made in the USA you better believe but it sure is America still works at America's still where -- -- have to believe in our country go out there remember along the way.
Success and shared is failure when you make it -- with others John -- -- Korea it's an inspirational tale I'm gonna make sure this link goes out big time closing.
