Turning back to the presidential race my next guest says Romney as very -- momentum going into the debate tomorrow evening but its President Obama who still has the advantage.

On like ability joining us is Steven Hayes senior writer weekly standard.

Fox News contributor.

A Stephen.

Let let's start with that debate.

He is.

What happened in the First Amendment that was some sort of anomaly.

It was sort of defy imagination -- those two.

Real.

Impressions of of these two men and their abilities.

I think there I think it wise to a certain extent I think also you had a president who was so confident in himself that he didn't take the time to prepare he didn't have.

Really much of a game plan going into the debate and I think it showed he thought he could wing it you know is like -- is that the Smart kid in high school -- you have to study very hard.

But it could always do well on his -- these -- and and and any bombs.

If I may I know that's.

That's the if you will but the view from from lofty heights that you your -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- But I have to say I don't see the basis for the news for the viewpoint I I have not been able to read a single thing written by this president that suggest in any way -- intimate and intellectual superiority.

Over and say governor Romney there's no -- I couldn't find it anywhere.

Secondly I can't find any basis to claim that this president has ever been a bear -- good debater.

Just leaving people awestruck with this deal is -- his language this presentation he just -- -- happen.

Right and assaulted that I -- -- -- I -- show up.

Dad I'd make two points to the first is.

I didn't say that President Obama would it was better than Mitt Romney necessarily -- intellectually superior and secondly and adding maybe most importantly.

This is less my view President Obama.

And more his view.

Of President Obama and his ability to Waltz in and and to do very well others dissidents that kind of overconfidence yeah I I think so I mean that kind of overconfidence.

We've seen this from the president before we -- -- in the health care debate on stark display when the president thought that.

What -- what he really needed to push health -- -- over that final.

Finish line was more President Obama so he would decide I need to do and I -- -- I need to do another speech.

And it just isn't the case so he's not that comes -- he's not.

That compelling a figure any longer -- I think that's part of the problem.

-- -- you know to keep history correct he wasn't then either it was an August.

That he went out to on the hustings if you will to campaign for obamacare.

The result was week after week after week came drove down the approved -- pity for ball right self.

And -- obamacare.

Now this is speaking out preparation we received word that Bernard.

Governor Romney may forego his debate preparation to attend a Paul Ryan event.

It is this stuff catching -- supposed.

-- maybe -- maybe after that performance last week he thinks he's the man.

You know look at I don't know the one thing that we know about Mitt Romney as that he had been prepared.

For a long time this is somebody who started his debate prep sessions rather informally and an increasingly formally.

You know back when the -- of Republican primary was in effect -- in April he was doing this kind of study.

If he had already been through a series of nearly two dozen debates in the Republican primary setting -- is somebody who did well in those debates and even when I didn't agree with the points he was making.

I thought he usually made them in a reasonable way that that -- -- you know suggest that he would do well.

In -- debates hands and I think you know he's he's going into this tomorrow competent.

I don't think he's cocky but that's always a risk.

-- -- -- one thing overconfidence another and at least he has some evidence.

On his side of -- chooses to be cocky in this thing.

He's also got some -- -- dramatic poll results he is now all tied up in the RCP nation the real clear politics all.

A national average all tied up with the president.

He is he's got women moving toward him as we look at this we could put up that -- on women I mean this is -- stop.

He's working.

Looking at this female voters.

The USA today Gallup poll in the battleground states but the president and Romney are tied.

My gosh I mean the orthodox she's going to have to find a new conventional a -- with which drew up.

Well I'll I'll be kind of it'll have to find a new outlook.

Yeah I I think that's right I mean what's interesting here is the Romney -- talk talk to Romney advisors.

They don't think that they're gonna end up tied up among women voters on Election Day.

Probably anywhere and they don't need to be tied anywhere if that margin is close with and a handful.

It almost guarantees that Mitt Romney will be the next president of United States he needs to be competitive among women he's waiting.

White men overwhelmingly.

And unless there was real slippage.

They air you know he would win if they if they achieving close to that number among women.

We're gonna share with our viewers here in just a few minutes in the in the -- -- A view that is going to -- a lot of people because there is another group.

A key group of voters that seem to be moving toward the governor.

And this will rattle the White House and the folks in Chicago working for a mr.

Obama's reelection.

Are just as you have done to them here tonight Steven Hayes we thank you very much for being -- -- thanks for having me Steven Hayes weekly.
