A think tank that was created in part as a response to Occupy Wall Street is promoting capitalism and says that capitalism is under siege in that it really shouldn't -- What does that mean what we have one up -- business leaders of this organization a communications vocal on with us in a Fox Business exclusive lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild.
Here -- your calling is that Henry Jackson initiative welcome to the show -- thank you it's -- to be here well you're you're capitalist you want to many businesses last time you're here with me reluctant whether online business it and no that's why you say capitalism is under siege what does that mean and by whom and by what.
Well what it means is that.
Capitalism has been this fabulous force for good for so many 600 million people around the world have been lifted out of poverty by capitalism.
And yet we live in a time when only 44%.
Of Americans believe that their children will be better off than they were.
That's down from 70%.
In nineteen in 2000.
So.
It's our system 25% of our youth are unemployed.
We don't want to lose those people in their belief that our system works but we also have to say that.
Bad things have happened you know -- -- inequality.
The lack of opportunity.
If you're 25 and you don't have a job and you're out of work for two years the system's not working for you so what we are saying is let's make the system inclusive.
And we're saying that actually we will correct -- from within that the business community is in there -- -- Apprenticeships.
Jobs they are there are bringing in students.
Who are not perhaps.
Perhaps prepared it and they're saying we will prepare you we will teach you the trade businesses Rolls Royce does this.
IBM.
Reaches out to small and medium enterprises.
And says okay you can supply to us here's what you need.
Let's -- people the opportunity of a couple of things here number one.
We love capitalism here Fox Business -- what you -- -- apart Ames's capitalism lives here because we see business is good but.
To play devil's advocate -- the people who are disenfranchised out there and don't have jobs or lost their jobs.
In a way -- blame certain parts of the capitalist society I'm thinking the high financial institutions who took wild bets.
And then expected the rest of us to bail them out how do you get that out of the way.
And this is important to point out you're saying this is bipartisan you've got people on both sides this is not a let's speed up on one side of the aisle.
Yes exactly exactly weird and we're not defending the bad behavior.
There was bad behavior and the banks are gonna have to do resuscitate themselves and I believe that they will.
But we we brought Democrats and Republicans together so we have Jon Huntsman and Carly Fiorina and Larry Summers and Laura Tyson.
And what we are green.
Is that.
We don't have to wait for government to do what capitalism needs we in our own interest I was businesses.
Need to start educating.
People to take the jobs that are out there there are three million unfilled jobs because people aren't part of.
Five but -- -- -- -- business is on board and with your contacts.
I can only imagine that you're you're putting the screws on some of these businesses saying get ready bring in these people for either internships or help them.
To in away get qualified and get trained for these job the great.
Thing is it's not really a matter of putting the screw that's gonna say out of -- don't know it's not a tough sell it's not a tough sell at all.
All of us who have benefited from the system want the system to work for the next generation we cannot leave behind the situation.
We're 25%.
Of our population doesn't feel invested in what made this country great and so for so it's really not.
-- that's kind of one of the points that the Henry Jackson initiative makes which is that businesses how they're doing good things whether it's AOL with the year up.
Program to bring in students whether it's -- Time Warner Cable.
Doing -- connect a million minds whether it's the supplier connection.
Of IBM whether it's Hewlett-Packard -- into the UK insane.
10% -- everything we buy and Britain we will buy from small and medium enterprises so helping in that regard hoping.
Then daughter you're part of the 1% but -- also lifelong Democrat how do you respond when you hear those that cry out there that it's that.
The Obama administration hasn't been as business friendly as they could be.
I -- I'm responsive to that to that criticism but.
But that's not really what what I'm focused on now that we need a government.
That needs business and we need business to go to government not with narrow.
Requirements but with.
Here's what we can do for our country really we have to go back to that ethic and most companies are there.
That's the thing it's not Occupy Wall Street.
Vs vs big companies companies I can't tell you I know a lot of CEOs and all of them cared desperately about.
A wider opportunity and stronger capitalism and companies are doing it and on our website we highlight and we showcase a lot of the great program and the website is the website is the Henry Jackson initiative -- work.
The Henry Jackson initiative -- or Scott -- actually -- regenerate Jackson initiative our put it.
Lower third saying somebody who is doing something about the problem instead of just complaining about it Lynn thank you very much great to see you live Lynn Forester de Rothschild.
