The newest poll from Michigan shows Mitt Romney tightening the -- that.

President Obama still leads by six points 5044 law.

Michigan is a heavily union state -- and the Obama campaign already has a pig feed line -- that appeals to voters that.

-- bumper sticker for him.

-- It -- joining me now what ought to have with the as the governor of Michigan -- night.

Don't welcome the program what -- It's great to be with you -- let me put it -- is flat house there's no way Mitt Romney can win heavily unionized Michigan especially with President Obama -- I eight I helped I saved General Motors -- -- can win Michigan.

In terms of governor around me.

And it's a great opportunity if you look -- history's been democratic presidential elections but 2000 -- I came into office we won the house and the -- that we won the statewide offices.

It was all focused on -- better jobs and a future for our kids.

And that's what -- around is all about.

The Washington as a -- ZU -- -- -- solutions I think it would we got back half but you think that governor Romney is going directly after growth and jobs issue in a way that measured and people are listening to him really well I think in the last debate he did a good job he was aggressive he got -- -- message.

Because again.

It's not worth my time fighting about the passed the more he can talk about the positive programs he's looking at the need for getting the budget taking care out paying down -- You know tax reform those -- the messages that worked in Michigan where about -- statement country.

And -- Donald's reforms the last year and a half and it's working.

We're fifty out of fifty now we've proven -- what can be done it just needs to happen in Washington now governor around his -- -- can get the job done I would there's another issue on the ballots in your state in Michigan in November and -- is a constitutional.

Amendment.

Which would give enormous new Panama to municipal unions and a lot phrasing -- -- that is accurate in my view always -- it would.

Be a major step back in time for Michigan Michigan could never become a right to work state that would be -- the question lets you change back the constitution.

The the constitutional lol could be used to interfere in any local decisions concerning local municipal unions yes Stewart I -- the back in time amendment to back because if you step back and look at this this -- about collective bargaining.

I've done collective bargaining with state and plays I believe and it's protected in -- and other factions.

On this would literally going and then potentially wipe out opt out 170 different laws -- been on the books major reforms that save.

A billion plus dollars in our state.

And I would take -- back in time.

So again this is a reaction to the reinvention Michigan were showing great progress people don't like change in some cases.

We need to get this proposal defeated in terms of moving forward with the state -- -- why is it that simple if he gets a majority in the U referendum -- -- the votes in November.

That changes the state constitution that simply he's been -- event.

Yeah that's one of the things we need to look at cannot what we don't want to be like some states they have ballot proposals all the time we have six different -- proposals.

And it's very confusing for people on the ads are very nicely so -- been clear with people in terms of I -- I'm gonna -- I'm gonna vote yes on proposal wanna know on the rust.

And proposal two is this back in time kind of amendment we've been discussing but many other ones are not helpful what are the poll show at the moment in the back in time referendum -- the polls are now.

Yeah they were very tight but we're making progress now it's moving more towards now because again if you stop and think about it.

Should you be making these kind of special interest most in the state constitution are any constitution.

What -- that point of having a governor and -- legislature and it worked through the normal process instead of trying -- bad something in the constitution that.

Has long term impacting a lot of people concerned that if it passes if he does pass in Michigan.

Where does it stop I mean presumably it would spread to other states I think -- outside of Michigan.

Well as in many respects and so I can tell you as it's important that we have a good dialogue and that's why I'm.

Actually -- out -- talking -- citizens trying to get people educated because again the the ads the airwaves are -- you know how the ads -- nowadays on many of these issues.

They're not.

Crystal clear clarity -- fact based -- so we need to get out there and get the message to people that listen I go back in time.

We're doing fabulous -- -- in terms of a comeback we have much more to do that we're not where I wanna be.

But we've made tremendous progress and let's continue that path because it's exciting if I live in Michigan -- bombarded by ads.

You're absolutely army of 100% of the time every -- that I will -- -- by all these ballot proposals and GAAP net philosophy -- they are and that's why try to summarize a very quickly as you gotta have something -- -- off father and that's why tell people personally am voting yes on one on -- Used as a base in terms of at least my perspective and then do your own homework because again people should look at these but let's move Michigan forward.

Great progress comeback state.

But we're gonna be -- top states in the country we've got such a great resource and such great people you know I just gave you -- extraordinary commercial for the state of Michigan and your administration -- -- -- Thank you I think -- you're welcome -- cut -- governor Rick Snyder thank you very much indeed thanks for being with a straight.
