Made the Commerce Department.

Is about the shine a light on the Chinese for dumping billions of dollars of solar panels on US market at artificially cheap prices.

White and case trade attorney Scott -- -- come says the ruling.

Justified as it is only -- Need to read Chinese retaliation against US products.

Scott thanks for joining us.

It looks like we are on the brink of another trade war with the Chinese we had the big charges against while way from the US.

Congressional committee yesterday.

And now this from the Commerce Department you -- the Chinese are guilty at this.

One thing I don't understand is.

If customers in the US get cheaper solar panels why do we want the government to stop the Chinese from giving its cheap panels.

Well.

The the issue is the -- -- -- nation -- there are legitimate reasons to impose any subsidy disciplines.

On a Chinese solar panels in order ensure fair trade and and and a free market.

The only problem of course is that though the way to department -- -- calculates.

He's duties are typically leads to duties that are far in excess of that needed to actually remedy these -- of his nation that's going on.

Well indeed the US already slap some duties on their right and yet prices still falling 30% this year there's something like sixty Chinese companies make -- these panels.

Are we sure that the prices are -- discovered competition that they are falling because the Chinese Government is doing something illegal.

-- That's -- that the department and the international trade commission to decide you know it's certainly.

Unclear whether these duties or whether the Chinese actions or just a global glut.

In solar panels -- to you over subs visitation by China the United States the European Union.

And everybody else is really causing that collapse in price -- you just said it's got over subsidies from China.

And the US the US is -- -- its own green energy industry is there -- pot calling kettle black here.

-- very much so you know according to the Congressional Budget Office we spent about 24 billion dollars in taxpayer money subsidizing green energy last year.

A lot of that went to solar panel manufacturers.

And not only does that lead to fair criticism man and allegations of hypocrisy.

But it also exposes our exporters to fairer and legitimate retaliation and foreign markets like China.

Right because this actually you say probably isn't going to -- US -- to do any better.

What percentage chance at all do you think that the US cases driven by anger and that.

And embarrassment inside the Obama administration for some that I think it's a lender and you and losing half a billion dollars.

In taxpayer money on a company that went out of business.

Did I don't think -- it's driven by the Obama administration's.

Embarrassments over Solyndra and -- -- one and abound solar and the rest of them.

Because typically it's a pretty legitimate legal process that they goes through -- and -- petition filed by the domestic industry and and adjudicated by the department of commerce and the trade commission.

But -- I wouldn't be surprised at all to see political.

Officials in the Obama administration and on the campaign trail.

Pointing to the department's announcement today as evidence that Solyndra wasn't their fault but instead was that the Chinese -- -- -- on the Chinese when the couple votes almost as his -- up on Wall Street thanks very much for being let us white and case ready attorney Scott.
