And our first guest tonight says the Republican ground game is beginning to show impressive results the absentee and early voting operation is now.
In full -- And enthusiasm is on the -- of governor Romney with just those 28 days remaining.
Joining us now Sean Spicer Republican National Committee communications director.
China EU and you guys have got to be -- lawyer is when you look at these poll results in my career I've never seen a one -- one week reversal like this.
It's it's phenomenal and I think.
I've gone back to the -- he just talked about with respect to the debate.
What I think really happened there.
-- the Obama campaign started with you know talking about how entirety was Al Gore insinuated might be altitude.
They wanted to focus on the style.
But what I think for the first time the American public saw were both candidates on stage together and could -- compare and contrast them at the same time.
Governor Romney came on stage with a plan talking about the problems of the country faces and how we gonna fix and in terms of the solutions -- offer.
President Obama it wasn't that his -- Iowa's off it's that.
I don't think that the policies of the last four years if things that you want to brag about or have results that you can campaign on as an incumbent.
Nationality are you really so confident so we're a late did with believe the governor's been able to post in the matter week that you're actually taking time to advise.
President Obama's there -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I don't let me because low Lou let me I'll put in context of you know you know of what your business if -- -- the day if you don't have any topics to discuss when you come on on the camera.
You can sit there babble you wants -- ago.
You know what that -- was from ready just he would have anything to talk about an and I think the problem that the president faces -- -- not a sky Roger brought me into a search on IP communications director.
You're gotta prove that you're getting every year ever let -- -- If he can bring big bird and I can bring you went on -- -- -- Well thanks for effect through the of the flattery but nonetheless.
Governor Iran I'm sitting here -- this kind of lead.
The question is now automatic.
Because this is the nature of if you will if not the -- that can't of the national media -- that.
And that is it did a sustainable bounce is snipes at first it was thereabouts and there's a -- that has to be sustainable.
And -- -- -- sustainable I suppose our next question is for how long what is your reading how profound is the governor's improvement across the board in.
All of these polls that we're looking.
I would say that the race is gonna continue to be tight CSC movement both both ways back and forth but I think.
One on the substance going forward not just in the debates but in that as as the American electorate really tunes into the final weeks of this I think.
The substance is going to trump the style and I think the American people are gonna say.
There's a lot of problems going on in this country I'm I'm struggling families struggling I I like what I'm hearing from the governor terms plant.
Second as you kind of brought up earlier.
Our ground game what we have done over the last several months to prepare.
Get out get our volunteers going just last weekend alone.
We did 2.5 million voter contacts with -- 30000 volunteers run a battleground states.
So is not the first.
Nobody wants is that the first time that you.
Energized -- -- then regretted that.
Yet that that number is breaks all sorts of records and you combine that over the last several months now -- talking about.
35 million voter contacts in almost a 100000 volunteers.
These numbers are just.
Astronomically.
Better than they were in not only 2008 but 2004.
The enthusiasm that we're seeing in terms of volunteers calling us up saying I want to help I'll make phone calls on the door to door tell -- what I can do to help -- your -- -- as a result of the governor's performance in the debate.
It is the the is that -- the -- we saw post debate we were on track to beat every record already but the.
-- the additional support they came from that night.
Was unbelievable so we are continuing to build a greater and greater operation that was pretty solid to begin with and it's just.
It's phenomenal to see the numbers as they poured -- at the end of the weekend in terms of how many voter contact how many new volunteers.
Have come in and so I think that combination that momentum and then when you look and further into these polls and ask.
Where the enthusiasm is -- seeing our enthusiasm which was already really high continue to climb.
And I think there's it was not great to begin with declining a little and -- the combination of everything coming together at this at this point.
He's going to be fantastic as we head into the final when he case Charles Fleischer thanks for -- --
