Aren't our next guest says -- plenty of -- tech jobs are waiting but we lacked enough trained people to fell.
Latest example General Motors putting out the help wanted sign for 15100.
New high tech workers and that's GM we're joined now by Scott Milan the sealed Dice Holdings -- -- -- -- protect jobs.
So let's start with the 15100 GM tech jobs.
How fast will the company be able to fill that how I should they be able to -- -- think -- one of the things that they're trying to do is to fill that over time as they build up -- center.
But it could be a little bit difficult for them to to fill those jobs in silly because there's a lot of demand today especially for developers.
There's one problem that the recession is let them until pour that I know the mobility of the workforce has really gone down people are moving to take jobs somewhere else right -- we've seen overall turnover sort of voluntary turnover people leaving to give it to get their next job has slowed down tremendously.
And part of the reason behind that seems to be you know a number of people are underwater in their homes and they can't make that -- even -- they would like to make that move.
-- love some of the categories that you -- demand is really -- we not seeing any drop off in tech jobs during this entire horrible meltdown has attacked by adding jobs this entire time -- we did see a drop off because -- think you're came to a standstill for a few months but you know in the case of our site and it was 86000 jobs there today just in the United States that's you know that's up about you know 90% from the bottom.
That we see on and in 2009 now among the tech jobs that are that their popcorn value of 141000 listings -- -- -- software development and you've got boom -- Intel would python and ruby.
Python Monty Python fan who who name that -- -- how big a problem though is this training matter I saw of figures just today.
Three point seven million open jobs in the US economy right now at a town we have twelve million unemployed you wish that won't guys -- -- move out of -- taken.
What does that appetite for exit -- we do have a mismatch of skills right now and I think there with -- way to fix that is really to have people first of all get gifted get the ability for people to move.
So they have to him that we have there is the country that have the talent -- just can't go to where the demand is.
But also we need to get the training to the Community Colleges can be a big help to us in that area.
You know.
I've heard people talk for at least a decade about need train American workforce.
Is this something they should be better done by private companies that need to fill unfilled jobs rather buy government has no idea what to train -- man.
Yeah I I think -- private companies it's a model that's very popular in Germany we've seen it in some cases new us.
Private companies -- do a terrific job teaming up with the Community Colleges.
Because at the end of the day to give to people going through this programs know that they have a job waiting for them.
Should government be doing more to grant tax breaks to companies so that they can.
Pinnacle deduction when they train new people and actually employ -- I think it's a terrific idea.
I mean and it you know do companies need people with skills if you give them that extra incentive -- make that move.
The loss Kutcher great guest just believe agreed with me so thanks very much for being with -- -- homeland.
But Dice Holdings appreciate it.
