What the -- That's -- member of the US senate committee on environmental and public works must be thinking.

A group of them are venting their frustrations to their environmental protection agency for increasing regulation and hydraulic fracking.

So how -- the EPA's fracking guidelines stifling the industry with me -- -- Fox Business exclusive senator John holdings.

From North Dakota thank you so much for joining us and you know I took time to look through these roles.

And based in mostly revolve around additional permits a minute see a permit for the use of diesel fuel when your fracking I see -- permit Ford drilling.

On native American reservations is that so back -- Well Melissa just to give you a sense of how this works in the state of North Dakota on private lands.

We can permit a well in about ten days.

However on federal -- public lands it takes anywhere from a 180 to 290.

Days almost a year.

To get a permit and that's why in this country you see oil production growing on private lands but declining.

On public lands and that's exactly why -- put legislation in the empower states act to make sure there were able to permit.

Oil wells in a timely way and do hydraulic fracturing or fracking as you said.

Why why does it take so much longer and I apologize we have a delay here -- we just have to bear with that.

While -- the problem as the federal rules are so burdensome and complex.

That the industry has to.

-- cantor on how to work through home and as I say instead of taking ten days to get a permit.

You're talking about 290.

Days to get a permit if you're able to get -- at all it's not necessary it does not provide environmental protection.

That's why we should have a State's first approach where the states.

Provide that permitting.

Are under.

Broad standards set by the federal government that protects the environment and we produce more energy domestic energy and jobs for this country.

But he tell physically what makes the process take so much longer I mean is it that -- filling out he's the paper and you send a man and and you don't hear back forever.

-- what is it specifically in the permitting process.

That creates there's gap between you know ten days or couple days and one situation.

And 290 days in the other what is it.

Must frankly it's federal group bureaucracy and red tape it's EPA it's Bureau of Land Management.

-- you know.

What they're doing his or they've got a very.

Lengthy extensive and on certain.

Plummeting process that ties up industry for no real benefit that means less domestic oil less domestic energy.

And and fewer jobs.

So what's the answer is it no permits at all is their way to expedite the process do you do -- permits locally.

What's the answer.

-- -- that's -- I appreciate you asking that.

Question that's my point here in the state of North Dakota we're we're -- good example on private lands we get those wells permitted.

In ten days what the legislation -- put forward in power states act.

Have already got senator Murkowski on -- who's the ranking member on energy senator McConnell minority leaders join me.

And others it allows the states to -- Our State's first approach where they do the permit in.

Under broad -- lot guidelines set by the federal government.

That is a very typical approach used throughout the energy industry that's what we need to do for fraction for fracking.

Okay senator thank you so much for coming on good staff.
