-- they are shelling out nearly one and a half billion dollars at least last year to get along for the so called presidential perks that's according to new book.

Joining the company -- is John room author of another book about the cost of the Obama White House call the one point four billion dollar man.

-- -- -- -- -- -- Welcome to -- -- you know that's absolutely astonishing numbers heart of Bab them.

One point four billion dollars what -- that kind of money go toward.

Yet -- the way to think of that number is that that's and has nothing to do with the cost of running the government that's comparable to what the average American family spent in other words.

-- a fairly spends 50000 dollars per year for things like transportation.

And food.

It said grow the comparable number for the Obama was at taxpayer expense is one point four billion.

I'm what are they spending it on the I don't get it I don't understand -- -- -- sheets cost more than our society what what are they spending that kind of money on.

Yet -- -- little things in big things you on the little things you know Michelle Obama will typically leave for vacation and maybe a few hours before her husband the president just to get a head start.

Now that would normally not be a big deal for most of -- but in their case says they're using planes that cost as much as 250000.

Dollars an hour.

It is a big deal so when she leaves for vacation a few hours earlier that can really cost taxpayers a couple 100000 dollars.

That's on the little side.

On the big side.

The president canceled a program that was.

Developing a new presidential helicopter fleet -- the president already has 31 helicopters in the fleet.

They spent three point.

Three billion dollars.

Developing a new presidential helicopter fleet and then declared a failure sold the prototypes to Canada 454.

Million dollars.

And so taxpayers took a loss of about three point one billion dollars and got zero helicopters.

Arts and this also -- Liz McDonald this also compares to the royal family I think 57 point eight million.

And expenses for the royal -- in England.

But when we're talking about one point four billion for the president you know you're including air transport and also -- Secret Service staff security.

And.

The unelected bureaucracy.

Yet correct -- we have a section and that includes bizarre is because very.

Are not really necessary and their direct political appointees and you know function -- personal advisors to the president.

There are already duplicative roles of other people in the government serving essentially those same functions.

But you know when you talk about travel lot of people say -- well you know he's the president he has to travel about sort of thing he has to have Secret Service protection.

That's true up to a point but the fact is he doesn't have to vacation in Hawaii which is the most expensive possible place you could go because the furthest from Washington.

He does have a four time -- you know Camp David the cost of eight million dollars a year.

And they do all these sorts of spurious things like when the president runs out for -- screwed -- -- -- photo op for the press.

But what people don't realize is there's a full security contingent following among those little trips so.

I just thought John I guess fed the end of the day I'm not sure who said -- but it's nice to be -- -- -- -- -- plug in a letter that we got to leave it there the one point four billion dollar ma'am we'll talk is.
