Our next guest was in the debate -- room in Denver last night anchoring parts news's coverage joining us now Bret -- a host of special report on the Fox News Channel.

-- first of all welcome second congratulations on another extraordinary.

Evening -- for the Fox News Channel.

Let let's -- let us start with the up your your impressions that we may of the two men because it was.

I think most of us were little surprise to the that the aggressiveness of government Romney.

And this seeming sort of hanging garden countenance of the president.

In in in the lack -- response to the governor.

It was star Lou in the first -- -- And it's a mean you could see the answer to the question was governor Romney going to.

Come out on the offensive was he going to be aggressive he was.

He was energetic aggressive he was head of vigorous defense of free market policy.

Really from the start and he also used personal stores along the campaign trail.

You could tell that he really really had had his brief down his practice with Ohio -- Rob Portman.

And basically President Obama dialed again even his supporters looked at him and said how can this be happening I mean when you heard former.

Vice president Al Gore today say -- last -- say that it could have been the altitude in Colorado.

You knew that something I was going south.

Quickly and -- -- -- that is.

Well the vice president the former vice president given now to our.

Interesting comments but that was one of the more interesting of the day is it seemed the -- was -- -- problem rationalizing.

Of the failure of the president to to amount even really it seemed.

Any kind of competition.

-- governor Romney.

I what was.

What was the sense -- in the -- remember and I'm dying be here years if it.

Your your your comments on what you heard in the way in which these two camps were spending the evening.

Most amazing because you know that debate ended and the hall fills up very quickly right afterwards and we -- in the middle of the the post analysis.

Show and all of it was happening behind this -- we were kind of providing our our own assessment Brit -- and Joseph -- and Chris Wallace of course -- -- -- nine we.

Notice that only four.

-- -- Folks showed up in the spin room meanwhile Romney had about fourteen or fifteen.

And the Obama folks who were there Axel Ron and -- Messina.

They were not telling a good story they were saying that this doesn't it's not definitive.

Basically it's theatrics.

Some of the same talking point you heard today.

The question is what it means long term clearly the president has set the bar the expectations pretty low.

-- debate to -- and 88 and one could be forgiven for thinking that it was perhaps Syria the rope a dope strategy you.

We're we're a longer period of time and most people would have expected.

But given that the way in which the leftists responded here for a I mean they have been vicious to their own there.

Their leader this is supposed to be the great -- And he is being treated today.

I think by the -- many cases far worse than he's been treated by anyone on the right.

Not Iraq Lou -- in MSNBC.

It was quite something to watch ship.

Some of that coverage and and just today congressman Rangel.

Said that the president just look bored like he didn't wanna.

Be present and you know when you have people out there saying that that's -- obviously not helpful to the campaign the president tried to bounce back today and a number of campaign stops.

And tried to make points.

The question is whether he can bring that to the next debate.

I also think it'll be interesting -- to look at the vice presidential debate which is actually the next debate in -- Kentucky.

And whether Joseph Biden feels like he has to compensate for what prison Obama didn't bring.

To the first debate and whether that causes trouble because you know Joseph Biden unleashed can can say some things that also cause trouble for the Obama camp.

You've you've just excited the nation are pleased that -- for watching you -- rewrite about the prospect of that that can be glorious and and so many different ways.

And that comes up next week on the eleventh.

-- will be leaving no one would make LA -- our coverage is always.

John Kerry approached the president.

Rob Portman -- the governor.

We get the feeling that Rob Portman will be back.

Carry remains an open question.

Yeah I I think senator care we'll still be the sparring partner.

From everything we're hearing from the Obama folks I talk to -- Portman in the spin room for awhile last night.

And he said they were not surprised.

Buy anything they heard at the debate not one thing the only thing they were surprised that is what they didn't hear right no no nothing of the 47%.

Tape.

Nothing -- Bain Capital.

No really -- tax they were surprised at how passive they the president was.

And he said frankly the president wasn't as good as me.

Well a modest assessment appropriately.

Are contemptuous us foreign partners should seek in some ways to emulate of course -- the real thing so what it was on the track.

-- -- good to have you thanks much and again great job.
