-- -- Pat Buchanan on all of these fast moving developments.
-- -- -- Well on the one thing -- there's an old wisdom that we all believed in when I was a kid were accused.
That the rich paid more than anyone else but everybody pays something and contributes I think -- sentiment is is deep and they and the American people.
And there is some concern when you hear that you know 47%.
Aren't paying any income taxes at all.
But let me stay with regard to what -- congressman -- talking about if you drop the rate -- from 35 to 28.
What you gonna have to do is cut or cap things like interest deductions deduction for state and local income taxes.
And all of those things and there's a reluctance on the part of the Republicans to point out what's gonna be cut and capped.
Well -- and that -- -- -- they have -- prefer to have -- those details have but you know I'm wondering -- it was something interesting to the -- Ryan.
And by extensive Romney yesterday.
Explain this notion of taking those.
Credits those -- those deductions changing and so that even though general rates come cover everybody.
More people are getting into the tax paying -- And now I think I see this poll out.
-- just 79% of Americans think it will involve how -- here everyone should have skin in the game it's like the world's are converging here.
And that did the media is it on this phenomenon what do you make of.
Well I don't understand I mean I know why the a lot of folks aren't paying taxes some -- below the level others -- get the the tax credits for children are you have -- legitimate and important -- percent I don't know out -- -- -- it now 47%.
While the others are frankly Republicans and Democrats to both contributed absolutely think.
When you're talking about things like national defense and you're talking about highways and things -- -- everybody.
Everybody should pay something.
But I don't you noticed governor kaine who's -- -- the running down there for the senate.
Former governor -- former democratic national chair.
He said he would look at a tax proposal were everybody at least -- something I think there's any I think that's a very American sentiment we won't contribute.
You know I came from a family we get a lot of dirt.
Nine kids and we all got together and bought one Christmas present for the parents and we all contributed and -- -- -- -- put in five bucks each.
And -- don't kid he's put in 25 cents so we can sign the card to.
It is a very American sentiment and I think it -- real appeal but once you start getting on the specifics he got problems.
Yeah you're right you know if you're seeing in this is that.
Bomb even though Romney caught hell for his 47% comments according -- this -- 63%.
Thinks that the substance of his comment about.
Dependence on government.
Or at least somewhat true another words that a lot of people you know he's -- he might -- said I don't know whatever -- is that an elegantly but he's right.
But it I don't know Sharpton.
And I've mentioned this before FDR in his State of the Union Address.
Said this relief that's welfare is you know how it's just subtle destroyer.
Of the human spirit we must and shall get out of this business of welfare or relief.
It was exactly right and they did get out of it.
Everybody agrees I think -- -- -- somebody -- really down and got a real problem we all get together and help them out.
And that -- again something that appeal to the American people but the idea that people on food stamps are never gonna provide for their own food.
In America their entire lives something like that I mean what I grew up in Washington DC eight -- dozen people half African American half white folks.
Nobody was on food stamps there were no school lunches or things like that -- maybe you need some.
But 47 million on food stamps eighty billion dollars for food stamps.
More and more folks needing to be fed by government.
I think all of -- sense something is happening to the character of the country and the character of our people when we get there.
Well I do think you're right in this respect and we're we're we're worried about getting.
Someone's nose out of joint on on the 47% comment.
And indeed we -- -- about those who pay other taxes on security and state of -- We could talk about those are generally -- to talk about those who are retired -- -- that's not the point not to offend people or get.
You people ignore it puts a look at that figure how the hell did it get to nearly half.
Did you know the eligible taxpayers.
In this country not -- Income taxes that's the issue that's lost and apparently from this poll that's the issue that's still -- Americans.
-- such great.
Well -- -- terms of economics.
Mean if you in politics if you've got I mean look that folks on Medicare they now get prescription drugs -- George W.
Folks once they get dependent on these benefits of government and you got half the country.
Is dependent automotive and preserving their folks -- paid into social security and Medicare and -- getting the benefit.
And then you get more than half getting the benefits.
And less and less than half pay now and the end -- -- You have a situation.
Where it is -- needs for that Republican Party because their tax proposal we're gonna cut taxes and get this economy moving.
However we're gonna pare back these benefits you received.
We're gonna cut the taxes you don't -- They're not gonna vote for Republicans until that's one of the long term endemic problems of the Republican Party the Republican presidents including -- My old boss Ronald Reagan and George W.
Bush both contributed to -- Yeah well let's muted optimism about we got of this -- Thank you -- -- it was a pleasure.
Always a pleasure.
