It -- and take you so much.

The unemployment rate down -- Texas with seven point 4% in July that is well below the national average of course that according to report released of the US conference of mayors this week.

Dallas is on track to be one of the fastest growing areas for jobs in this country.

This city is projected to add more than 380000.

Jobs over the next five years.

So how is down -- sparking the unemployment trend and spurring job creation.

Joining me now is -- mayor -- Rollins we answer.

Mayor thank you so much for joining us you know I was combing through all of the stats on your state and I are on your city I should say.

And it's very impressive.

-- July your unemployment rate was seven point 4% I mean it's well below the national average.

What is driving next a lot of people would think if the oil and gas industry -- when I look at that at the -- that's not it.

No we're very diversified we -- one of laps to go into the recession and one of the first come out.

First -- -- geographically located a great place so we have a lot of corporate headquarters here.

Second I think we believe and investing in the future we don't kind of just frees up so we've put more in public infrastructure in the last five years.

Then.

And any time in our city's history in the middle of -- recession.

And then third worst city of opportunity we will -- people come here because they want to make it and they want to make it now.

They don't wanna get caught up and a lot of political stuff to a nonpartisan Citi.

And we all -- business making it happen and that's why I think that spirit of growth is alive and well in this town.

Yeah absolutely I think I know that you yourself are are nonpartisan that you have backed candidates from both sides for president in the past when I look at the employers that -- attracted to your city that have more than 101000 employees Wal-Mart tops the list AMR.

Texas health resources Bank of America.

And Baylor Health Care System.

That's a diverse group of companies with a diverse group -- needs what is it that you offer them -- is today easy regulatory environment is it.

Educated workforce is a low tax rate which -- main draw.

Well to be successful these days you have to do -- all.

And we're focusing on all those things.

I think the first thing we we've we've built on technology Texas Instruments was one of the first founding fathers and when you build.

The city -- technology that happens when we have DFW airport where we you can get anyplace in the nation.

Very quickly that third busiest airport in the world.

It it it helps a lot and then at City Hall we make sure that we get things in -- -- we make decisions.

And we don't get caught up in a lot of bureaucracy will yeah try to minimize that as much as we can't.

It a couple of things I want to highlight for -- at a time you have a budget surplus of 2.3 million dollars a lot of that has to do with your property tax base because your home values.

Did not seem to go down quite as may go up and go down as much as the rest the country they've been more stable.

You over the next five years you see twelve point 8% job growth that ranks number four nationally.

The biggest category you're gonna add about a 127000.

Professional and business service jobs like what I mean who should come to Dallas looking to find a job.

Well an AT&T.

Has moved here from San Antonio.

And there are attracting business around and and business service sector.

For instance so if you -- Finance here.

If you're -- a individual that has got the new way of optimizing business.

It's it's a great place education's gonna continue to grow.

Health care is gonna continue to grow as well.

So I think all those sectors are important we've got our challenges like the rest the United States does.

But I think having a sense of urgency and making it happen now I think is is is what's in our culture yeah and that's what makes the sister city of success.

-- -- -- -- of course you know what makes -- take as you -- the former CEO -- a high in your running the city well obviously thank you so much for joining us is the second city Texas.

That we've highlighted in the past week that's adding jobs and growing and doing something right it's all about Texas.

Thank you so much aren't good news.
