Things like high taxes regulations financial instability have people moving to more business friendly less tax happy states like Texas.
Joining me now is former Press Secretary for Governor Schwarzenegger and found.
Partner of the give them a clear group -- a clear airing great to have you back on the show thanks for joining me.
-- in this study is so interesting is out of the Manhattan institute and they were talking about how for decades especially after World War II from 1960 to about 2010.
The population California increased by a 137%.
And people were moving out to California.
But the whether the promise weather was the space industry or the space on the ground there were just a lot of people coming out to California since then.
We have seen that was -- -- we're just showing.
This state has seen 3.4.
Million people do the exact opposite bank and mobile -- from the West Coast why do you think that it.
That's what we still allow those reasons for people from out -- -- it was gorgeous piece of real state on the planet as it's absolutely beautiful I hear the weather is great.
Right tag -- our access my -- wonderful we have high tech Biotech it's doing very well so.
There's a lot of positive things out here but problem is -- the folks in charge -- are so focused on on these regulations environmental regulations.
Which which -- a a good idea because it's so beautiful here want to keep it that way but they go too far with those.
The high taxes -- get this right now we have the highest budget in the history of the state.
And the governor has a fifty billion dollar tax hike on the ballot if that's not the -- definition of tax and spend don't know what is.
Yeah -- and you look at where they're going NEC get more than 70% of the State's met and net migration.
On is going to Texas.
And owed and they came from California -- percent of people that move into Texas pardon me.
Came from California.
So it shows you that like you sad.
-- weather warm weather is important to these folks being outdoors.
But it does seem -- you know taxes I just got back from Houston it is a state that is very focused on line.
As a lot of people said freeing business -- to do what they do best.
And not holding people back you are what you achieve what I heard over and over again why was there and is.
How does look a little bit about and -- Californians and this breaks my heart.
Yeah it's too bad because you don't out -- -- yours it's beautiful it's -- great state is great people out here.
But the leaders of the state they continue to to have the highest taxes we have you know what whatever the measure -- we have among the highest taxes in the country whether -- sales or income corporate.
All those -- about the highest we also have a third of the welfare recipients as were very generous with our with our social services we have the highest paid teachers -- the highest paid prison guards he could make more in retirement as a teacher here.
The most working teachers in the rest because -- of those ways to fix it you know it's not it's not a lost cause but we can't keep having the highest budget ever and in putting a fifty billion dollar tax hike on the ballot we -- the fix the system is there to be fixed it can be done.
-- eat eat candy but I'm not sure that the people in California want -- enough to a -- someone.
That would turn it around I mean I was recently in California and I went into his CBS the union paper bag because they've outlawed plastic bags.
They go what's that they didn't I wasn't buying cigarettes but I somebody mentioned didn't sell the merits CBS because there was -- -- -- log and spat.
I -- there was a lot against just about everything.
An idea I you know 888 California's keep voting people in to office -- support -- -- so they must like it so I don't think it's gonna to which.
Well I I hope it dollars and I think that the over the prop -- -- political problems much as anything we we really don't have an opposition party you're the Republican Party.
Is very weak in California -- the majority party that really can just do whatever they want without any fear of getting getting kicked out of office because there's no.
There's no real opposition party do that so it's a political problems much as anything but the elected leaders of this they have been focused on spending more more and more.
And really not cutting back -- really not doing anything to incentivize businesses to stay here and create jobs.
Aaron depressing but thank you for coming up with a fix that problem we'll see you take that I can't wait to have you back on -- effects that things -- coming --
