To some of the folks at the top of the energy industry my first -- definitely has a lot of skin in the game it is Richard king.
CEO co-founder.
-- hit -- Morgan the third largest energy company in North America he also happens to be number 36 on the Forbes 400 list of wealthiest Americans.
And he's with us today in a Fox Business exclusive -- you so much for coming on you know you moved up ten spots this year pretty good.
Well I wouldn't -- -- much attention you know if you.
Hang around the back for long enough to get if you really.
I expect -- The politics I want to ask you about Houston because we came down to this city as we were bowled over.
Why the economy which grew at better than 8% last year added back all the jobs that were lost during a recession -- used to do right.
Well I think it has a number of really -- is going forward the first thing I like to say is the culture.
The pet phrase I use -- is that in Houston.
You are what you achieve and to me that sort of the American dream encapsulated.
So I think there's a great deal of upper mobility we have tremendous diversity.
We have a tremendous Hispanic population Asian population Anglo African American tremendous melting pot which I think -- tremendous advantages.
And then we have.
A lot of both of pluses but but there are three big drivers of the economy and that in my judgment that -- energy business of course is really -- the world headquarters.
But the energy business.
This tremendous medical center couple miles from where we're sitting today.
And then we have depending -- -- -- -- -- the first or second largest port in America so we have some.
Real advantages that I think -- gonna pay dividends for many years.
That that's an interesting phrase you said you are what you achieve.
You know that's not necessarily the political message that we're hearing across the board right now needed achievement has been.
You know sort of little -- at this point -- you think that that message is wrong.
Well idea I happen to believe that what makes America great is the fact that -- in this country.
They're really are pretty well unlimited opportunities if you are willing to work hard in the hand certainly there are differences and look and that.
Everything is not solely due to talent but I believe that there is the ability to achieve in this country and I think.
People vote with their feet.
Every day to come to this country because they believe in what this country has to offer and that's the most powerful love.
Endorsement of the American dream to me is the immigration that we continuously -- And even into Houston as well I mean -- migration into the city of do you think that.
Right now the political climate embraces what you just said that you are what you -- Well I think is unfortunate that in in this particular context.
We've had a lot of sound bites.
That they're playing to political.
Opportunist.
That I think are unfortunate but I really believe that most people in this country believe that the American dream is pretty special and that this is reached by.
