And joining us as a man who knows where -- he -- when it comes to education Joseph Klein.

Executive vice president News Corp.

CEO of amplify the company's education division.

Our branch that contracts with school districts throughout the country per student services professional development.

He served as -- -- the New York City public school system so you know something about education and frustration.

George good to have you with us -- -- -- -- you know -- you said that this shows that there is bipartisanship.

And reform.

I'm I'm looking at -- mess over in Chicago.

A disaster of a school system.

Some of the most unseemly people it seems to me if put it that way.

I involved in the union and -- and the outrageous claims as they're.

At -- student after student is -- Absolutely denied -- quality education what.

What -- so good about what's happening Chicago.

Well I think what's so good is -- Rahm Emmanuel democratic mayor in Chicago.

Who is really insisting on real reform there and I think that's what's gonna change the game he's insisting.

That we have a system that makes improvements he set himself flew right from the beginning.

This is assistant that this indeed small change your incremental change it needs big changes.

And he doesn't want -- fought for them did he get everything you wanted.

Nobody ever get to.

I've I've just financially well what did you get.

I mean he has to add teachers -- didn't want to do.

They're getting a considerable raise given that they are the third highest paid operation in the country.

They have some of the worst test scores in the country it is disaster of a school system period.

What did he can't well look I think the more teaches tomorrow teachers those things are good and I think he's happy to do that -- -- tough budget times they'll have to make that happy.

What do you got is that principles will be able to choose your -- such a big change is something we fought our war in New York.

Yeah but not in and I entirety and the fact that about valuation which he was talk about and the -- 30% of valuation counting you every.

This is not much I mean for crying out loud.

These teachers will not be put on any kind of test.

For their performance as a as evaluated by the performance.

Of their students well -- -- religion it's gonna start at thirty go up to 35.

So I think that'll move but when -- shares are -- -- -- throughout the country now.

Five years ago there was none of this -- there was nobody being evaluated on the improvement students and that's a really big changes to change it Michelle relay didn't.

DC got -- used to work for me up in New Haven.

You see this throughout the country now and and his Rahm Emanuel out as I say democratic mayor.

Who's taking on a fight with the traditional democratic constituency.

And I think you know again I'm sure -- anybody you'd like to get a little more but I think he got some stuff that's meaningful.

-- let's listen to Karen walks the leader of the Chicago teacher's union.

And you tell me what the teachers have got here -- in this leadership.

I am the only black woman in the class of 1974.

From Dartmouth College.

-- People are impressed let -- its value I spent those years.

Smoking lots of -- self medicating.

Self medicating.

And I think you have.

Sound like you won't -- until.

Hold them onsite and kids you have a little thing that I have.

What does that what does mean what kind of conduct is that.

I understand there's a difference when -- union in the teachers themselves.

But what is.

Well I think those are fortune -- but I do think it's a big difference I think most of America's teachers.

Really care about their kids want to system in which we can help make -- -- that they can perform well.

I think what -- and -- -- people are trying to do his professional life teaching.

More would away from an assembly line into one it's more professional -- that they will -- -- give me those.

-- temperatures you know.

The amateurs that went into public schools didn't give a damn about the politics.

Didn't care about -- origin of a student.

Just simply -- to a student vital spark.

And said you know we're going to give her I think we've got quality teachers you know the people who produce those folks -- sixties and seventies the sixties.

In particular who have the highest scores still.

And in the country.

ME in Chicago you've got eighth graders who can't even do basic reading basic math.

And we're talking about raises for teachers what is that message.

Please certainly right give me those teachers who look for the sparked Bernanke give me those teachers who Chile is not a person watching us those who want -- grade school for his skewed.

And great teachers we gotta get there and you're right we're not there.

Today and too often we've made excuses but I -- with people -- wrong people like Cory Booker.

Now in Newark and Antonio Villaraigosa in Washington any Republican -- come because I know your balance -- -- I don't know I don't know there are children Jeb Bush when he did down in Florida I've always show up in arms about surprise may be.

Our -- still in office stated so anyway I think we'll -- and will be -- analysts who was really too if you push the he -- probably reforming education of ours has -- for some of those republic.

-- I don't care if you Democrat Republican -- wanna know if you do right by our kids our kids can't afford.

The school system that doesn't educate and particularly -- meet -- -- I could not agree with you more and the fact is.

That is the real challenge and and a -- -- -- -- here.

Working on that very important issue an -- -- the -- -- for the company we both report was to do it thank you.
