-- the casualties from -- coal industry piling up even higher today alpha natural resource is announcing its shutting eight minus.

And slashing up to 12100 jobs the company is blaming the cuts.

In part on strict new air pollution regulations and congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio says it's time to bring an end to what he calls the war on call -- he joins us now.

With his plan to -- it.

First -- tell me what is the Warren called it very specifically.

Because now I'm really frustrated now last segment -- -- very specifically.

What does the war on coal consist stopped.

For what it's worth Melissa you won the battle and that last segment but I am gonna have to watch it back parents see what -- But anyway -- I think you want to point but but the war -- cold started before Barack Obama became president he made it very clear his campaign that he was gonna make it economically unfeasible to to start up or -- operate coal fired power plants.

That's one promised that he has kept by doing what I mean I know part of it has to do with this stream buffer zone and -- what is that how does that attacked call.

You bet the stream buffer -- rule is a rewrite of -- rule that took the Bush Administration five years to put in place that that.

Talks about and sets the parameters around which we do coal mining operations.

-- -- stream.

The Obama administration.

Excepted.

And roll over and environmental.

Lawsuit and started immediately to re -- that rule.

In such a way that's going to shut down virtually shut down underground coal mining in America reduce production by up to 50%.

And and cost thousands of jobs -- -- Monday.

Easing is I don't know the science -- -- admittedly Eminem I'm I'm not environmental scientist is there good -- you're not I mean should there be a buffer zone out there.

What there would not the 2000 -- rule put a buffer zone out there that's what it was called it was called the string buffer zone rule.

And they never even implemented the 2000 -- -- to see what its effect would be.

Before they started -- writing this rule when when the when the contractor.

That they were working with the released on numbers of those of the tremendous job loss.

And the resulting.

Reduction in coal production.

They've they've basically fired -- contractor because they wouldn't change the numbers.

So it is absolutely a war on the coal industry.

And the EPA is joining it would air regulations that coal fired plants as well as actions to classify coal ash.

As hazardous material but are those actions justified by the EPA -- -- -- they just try to protect the public.

Well look everybody wants clean air and everybody wants clean water but we wanna make sure that it's -- through science and fact not because of a political agenda.

Or an environmental.

Extremist.

Agenda.

Certainly is certainly there are or are there are ways to put reasonable regulations in place but the train wreck.

That -- and the utility magnet shuts down coal fired power plants.

Our -- lashes that she used in the manufacturing of all bowling balls and concrete yeah our asphalt and you know that that's going to cost America jobs.

In an industry that that we can't afford -- those job.

Just before I let you go -- wind energy cheap and abundant -- was up the craziest segment you ever heard when you're waiting come -- I would it was a it was a pretty crazy segment you know I don't know I was born and raised on the farm and in my view when produces energy when the wind blows and sudden blow all.

What she is true I -- I'm I I'm putting it you know a giant wind turbine on top of my apartment building and that's it made up of one of my car to I don't know.

Anyway thank you coming on today we appreciate.

Where did you moves -- just totally off the rails here.
